Chapter 42 Lesson
Chapter 42 Lesson
Although he had accepted the mission, it was still early, so Viktor turned around and went back to the laboratory building.
It wasn't until nearly 3 p.m. that I finished up what I was doing and headed toward the location given to me by the Star Tower.
After walking for about fifteen minutes, Victor arrived at a tall tower.
This is a secondary tower of the Star Tower. Victor learned about it in the Star Tower; it is actually the warehouse of Morning Star Academy, specifically for storing various items and potions.
The person responsible for guarding such an important place must naturally be a formal wizard.
He was visibly very old, with a cold gaze, wearing a black robe and some white decorations in his hair... You didn't even need to get close to him to feel the aura of death emanating from him.
This wizard, who looked rather unapproachable, sat at the entrance of the tower.
Viktor immediately became wary, stepped closer, and respectfully greeted him first:
"My lord... it is an honor to meet you."
"I am Victor, an apprentice who accepted a mission from the academy. I came here following the guidance of the Star Tower. Are you the wizard in charge of this area?"
The aged wizard turned his head stiffly, his gaze falling on Viktor. A glimmer of magic appeared in his pupils, and his hoarse voice held a hint of curiosity and scrutiny:
"A newly awakened bloodline?"
Viktor was reluctant to answer, but not daring to offend the other party, he could only nod:
"Yes, you're right, I only recently awakened my bloodline."
"Professor Manugs said that my bloodline seems to be very unique, and has not appeared in the academy before."
"Manugs?" The wizard was taken aback, and the chilling feeling in his gaze towards Victor seemed to lessen considerably. "You're that Manugs's apprentice?"
"Yes, sir, I am responsible for handling some work for my mentor and serve as his assistant." Victor noticed the subtle change in the other party's tone and attitude and continued to add.
"I see..." The old wizard nodded, then withdrew his gaze from Victor and gestured for him to stand aside. "There are still two apprentices who haven't arrived yet. Please wait a moment."
"Thank you, sir."
Viktor understood that Manugs' name had worked, and he breathed a slight sigh of relief. Without saying a word, he bowed respectfully and moved aside to wait quietly.
About ten minutes later, the two apprentices walked slowly towards them from a distance.
Then... they all noticed the old wizard at the entrance, and their bodies stiffened simultaneously:
"grown ups......"
The old wizard ignored their greetings, instead glancing at the time with a blank expression. He then began to unleash the magical pressure emanating from him as a formal wizard, causing the two wizard apprentices to turn deathly pale.
As if a tangible magical force were pressing down on them, the two even had difficulty breathing for a moment.
Time ticked by, and as the two men struggled to breathe, their eyelids rolled back, seemingly about to faint, the old wizard finally let out a cold snort and withdrew the magic he had released.
The two apprentices instinctively reached out to each other to help each other up, at least preventing them from falling directly to the ground.
But when the two looked at the old wizard again, their eyes were filled with nothing but awe and fear.
For the old wizard, it was merely a simple reprimand to the two unruly apprentices. He didn't care what they thought of him, turned to Victor, and said calmly, "My name is Cheshire, and I will be the caretaker of this tower this month."
"I also issued your college missions."
"The specific situation is that there is a batch of magical potions in the warehouse that are about to lose their potency. These magical potions were originally intended to make 'Gold-Eating Potion', but this batch of potions is no longer needed. In order to prevent waste, we need you to refine these magical potions."
The old wizard Cheshire rose from his seat, his movements slow and deliberate, just like a true old man.
But after what had just happened, neither the two apprentices who had personally experienced how terrifying the other was, nor Viktor who had witnessed being made an example of, dared to show him the slightest disrespect.
He waited patiently as he slowly pushed open the tower's doors and swayed as he walked in.
"Come with me."
Viktor glanced at the two apprentices behind him; their legs were still weak, and they could only support each other as they followed.
He had no intention of meddling in other people's business, and silently followed the old wizard into the tower.
......
The interior of the tower was much simpler and more austere than expected.
It really did resemble a warehouse, with numerous shelves and boxes placed against the walls, covered with all sorts of labels.
Some winged, small, elf-like creatures, only about 40 to 70 centimeters long, were busy inside the warehouse, flapping their wings and flying by hurriedly, carrying some things in their hands, seemingly organizing the warehouse.
Victor's gaze involuntarily fell upon these creatures... 'Four-winged flower spirits.'
A magical creature that is born to fly and is inherently cowardly. It is related to the elves by blood and is often trained to be a wizard's servant or to assist in managing tasks such as potion gardens.
However, the price is really expensive. A well-cultivated flower spirit costs three or four hundred magic stones, which is unaffordable for non-formal wizards.
But now, glancing around this warehouse, the number probably exceeds fifty... It just goes to show how incredibly wealthy and powerful the academy is.
The old wizard kept walking, and even though he walked a little slowly, he eventually led the three apprentices to a corner.
Several empty workbenches are set up here, and the equipment for refining potions has been installed.
Several flower fairies also flapped their wings and hurriedly flew over, carrying several boxes filled with potions. They placed them next to the worktable, and the old wizard pointed to the boxes:
"These are the potions you need to refine. Let's get to work."
After saying that, he turned around and prepared to leave.
The two wizard apprentices quickly made way for them.
Victor glanced at the box containing the potions and finally asked:
"Lord Cheshire, may I ask if these potions are all the work for today?"
"Once these potions are fully extracted, will we need to confirm with you?"
Upon hearing this, the two apprentices immediately looked at Viktor with surprise in their eyes, as if wondering why he was so bold. But the next moment, their surprise turned into doubt and uncertainty.
Because the old wizard Cheshire was not angry when faced with Victor's questioning, he calmly stopped and turned around to say:
"These potions are the work you need to complete today."
"Come find me at the entrance after you've finished, and I'll add the points to your account."
"Any other questions?"
