Chapter 13, The Rotation of the Throne
Chapter 13, The Rotation of the Throne
Everything was going smoothly; the thing was most likely inside his head.
Li Lang felt dizzy and lightheaded, and his heart was pounding with fear.
Goodness, no wonder I've been feeling so clear-headed and insightful lately—there's a reason for it all. Could this be the legendary possession? Is something controlling me? But it doesn't quite seem like it...
In fact, Li Lang's intuition was correct, and his line of reasoning was also correct. The spiritual object was currently hidden inside his skull, but it had not yet been discovered.
For a spirit to choose its master is an incredible stroke of luck, and Li Lang was one of those favored by heaven.
Those favored by Heaven are blessed with good fortune; they can turn misfortune into good luck and turn bad luck into good fortune. Forget about enjoying a life of luxury when you're with them; in critical moments, they can truly save your life.
Wangcai and Xiaoshengzi understand this very well.
On that day, the lightning that filled the sky failed to capture the spirit creature, allowing Li Lang to take advantage of the situation. Enraged, he unleashed a devastating strike, destroying all living beings and even causing the entire world to vanish into thin air.
Only the wolf and monkey, quick-witted and agile, darted close to Li Lang. Instantly, a mysterious power rose up, ensuring the safety of all three.
Li Lang knew nothing of this, because he had already fainted at the time. The two beasts knew, but they couldn't tell.
They couldn't say it, but what they could do was stick close to Li Lang and cling to his leg.
After drinking wine and eating meat, Zhuge Liang and Feng Chu became friends with Li Lang.
The monk Wolong pulled out his razor and tidied up Li Lang's beard and hair, instantly making him look radiant and dashing.
When it comes to shaving heads, monks are professionals.
Not to be outdone, the Phoenix Chick Taoist heated a tub of water, and Li Lang sat in the tub, groaning with pleasure.
After doing all that, Li Lang felt refreshed and very satisfied, so he started barbecuing. This was the last meal of wild boar meat.
"How have you two been doing this past year?" Seeing the two rascals' drooling looks, Li Lang was very curious about their experiences over the past year.
"Sigh!" Upon hearing Li Lang's question, Wolong and Fengchu exchanged a glance and then sighed simultaneously.
"It was about a year ago when I arrived at the foot of Langya Mountain, weary from my travels, and encountered a band of bandits who wanted to rob me of my money. But I am a monk, and I usually go hungry for two days out of three. I wouldn't even dare to have a lice on my body, let alone money. But the bandits didn't believe me, so they searched me." Monk Wolong spoke first, recounting his story in a leisurely manner.
"Hmm, if it were me, I wouldn't believe it either." Li Lang looked at the monk's fat body, nodded, and expressed his agreement.
"And then?" Li Lang asked casually.
"That goes without saying, if you don't have money, just kidnap people." At this moment, Fengchu spoke up.
"So you're saying you were there too?" Li Lang asked in disbelief, his face filled with shock.
"I wasn't there. I'm right here, a day before him," Fengchu said with a slight embarrassment and a soft laugh.
"Hehe, so you two are in the same boat." Li Lang chuckled, realizing that the two had been robbed one after the other.
"Who says otherwise? These bandits must be desperate for money. Capturing a Taoist priest is one thing, but they're trying to rob a monk too. I don't know what they're thinking." Wolong curled his lip, his expression somewhat disdainful.
Seeing the monk's expression, Li Lang chuckled inwardly. It turns out the legend that monks don't associate with Taoists is true.
"What's wrong with the Taoist priest? He has hair." The Taoist priest saw the monk's expression and immediately became displeased.
"You." Wolong was so angry that his face turned red. He was speechless for a moment, glared at Fengchu fiercely, and then simply stopped talking.
"Hehe." The monk was inexperienced in worldly affairs and was no match for the Taoist in a verbal sparring match. Fengchu had the upper hand and chuckled softly; it was time for him to perform.
"Those bandits actually wanted me to write a letter to the abbot, demanding money to ransom people. That's outrageous! How could I tolerate them? So I wrote the letter, and I don't care how it's delivered. I'll just stay here and eat and live for free..." Fengchu said smugly.
"Hmm, this is quite an achievement, but it certainly doesn't disgrace the name 'Phoenix Chick.'" Li Lang suppressed a laugh and nodded inwardly.
"And you? How did you do it?" Li Lang glanced at the still-alive Wolong and asked.
"Same," Wolong replied irritably.
"Giggle giggle." Li Lang burst into laughter like a pig.
Li Lang burst out laughing. The two heartless fools, Zhuge Liang and Feng Chu, couldn't help but exchange another glance before bursting into laughter.
By this time, the barbecue was cooked, and its aroma filled the air. Wangcai and Xiaoshengzi squatted nearby, drooling.
"And then what? No one came to claim you, so those bandits just let you eat and stay for free?" Li Lang smiled as he cut open a piece of barbecue, tossed a piece to each of you, and continued to ask.
"Hmm." Monk Wolong grabbed a piece of roasted meat, took a bite without waiting, and covered his mouth because it was too hot. "Of course not. They gave up on the ransom in two months and wanted to kick us out. Can we tolerate that? Monks are the most trustworthy. We will not leave here until the ransom is paid."
"Hehe, we can't tolerate this dishonesty." Li Lang took a bite of roasted meat, nodded, and agreed.
When Fengchu saw this, his eyes lit up. He felt that Li Lang was very much to his liking, and that they were indeed kindred spirits.
"Hmm, that makes sense. But they're unreasonable and want to use force, so we can't let them get away with it. So, after a heated discussion, we finally reached an agreement," Fengchu chimed in.
"Oh? What was the result of the discussion?" Li Lang asked, somewhat curious.
"Hehe, that's the king of the mountain position. The monk and I will take turns sitting here, changing shifts every other day." Fengchu took a bite of roasted meat, his mouth full of oil, and smiled smugly.
Upon hearing this, Li Lang was stunned. Could it really be done like that?
"How did you do that?" Li Lang was still a little skeptical.
"That's easy, just fight," the monk Wolong said casually, wiping the grease from his mouth.
Li Lang looked over in surprise.
"Hehe, we were kidnapped and brought up the mountain because we were new here and had nowhere to stay. Now that we have a place, we can't just move on easily." Seeing Li Lang's surprise, Monk Wolong patiently explained.
Hearing this, Li Lang was still surprised, thinking that he didn't know these two guys well enough. These two were capable fighters; just the two of them could take down an entire den of thieves, so their combat strength should not be underestimated.
From this perspective, these two individuals are of decent character. After all, when facing Li Lang, they didn't resort to violence but instead used kind words and persuasion to win him over.
"Where are those bandits?" Li Lang asked, puzzled.
"Alas, they've all run away, they've all run away, they don't even want their nest anymore," Fengchu sighed regretfully.
