The Strongest Curse Master

Chapter 468: Chief Curse Engineer Maeve

Chapter 468: Chief Curse Engineer Maeve

"What are you doing here?" the chief curse engineer of the presidential fleet asked the blonde agent dragging him into the orchard away from everyone. "For your sake, you better convince me you are not here to assassinate Dee3—""My god, no!" the blonde agent exclaimed, taking offence at the accusations made against him by the old lady. He then fell to his knees as his back opened up like a stealthy hatch and a little kid crawled out of it saying, "Madam Maeve, you know how much I idolize Dee3. So do they. If they really planned to assassinate Dee3, they wouldn’t send me."

"You have a point there. Then what are you doing here? I doubt that Sir Dick would allow you to leave the capital unsupervised to attend this funeral. Did you sneak out again?" Maeve nodded in agreement, knowing that if there was a Dee3 fan club, Agent Kidd wouldn’t just be the number one fan but the president of the club.

Due to his superior intellect and his age, Kidd was arrogant by nature, but when it came to Dee3, he would show a strange mix of respect and rivalry. Kids his age were obsessed with cartoons, but he was obsessed with Dee3. He has read most of Dee3’s research and books that the government made available to him, a minimum of ten times. When asked, he claimed that reading Dee3’s work and books made him feel he understood her better.

"I came to south on a mission. Fortunately, a target coincidentally happened to live here. I planned to stop by the funeral and meet Dee3 after I dealt with the target. But that rude redhead got in the way," Kidd remarked in rage, recalling Ava and her lying tongue, feeling a sudden urge to kill a few people.

"That rude redhead knocked you out cold. If I hadn’t intervened, you would be buried hundreds of feet underneath. What happened? Was her ability that powerful?" Maeve asked, knowing that not just anybody could K.O. Agent Kidd. He had probably killed more people than the redhead knew.

"Not powerful, mysterious. It compromised the sensors of my droid with a very thin cover of what appeared to be glowing snow, stripping it of all its sensory capabilities. As a result, within the droid’s cockpit, I was cut off from the outside world.

By the time I switched to manual operation, replacing the droid’s sensors with my curse senses, you had stepped in. By the way, how did you deal with her?" Kidd informed, to help Maeve understand why he lost to the redhead, and then asked how she subdued the redhead’s mysterious curse abilities.

"No wonder. Her ability is mysterious and powerful, but her control over curse energy is abysmal. I slightly disturbed her curse energy circulation by using mine, and she immediately lost control of her curse abilities," Maeve explained before curiously asking, "Who is your target, anyway?"

"Smart," Kidd complimented Maeve on her quick and easy fix for the rude redhead and then answered, "I was sent here to clean up after the Samsara cult incident. My target at present is Ace Lander. The son of the family that owns this estate."

Kidd was honest with his answer because Maeve would find out the truth after he was done, anyway. So, he didn’t see a point in hiding or lying to her about his target.

"No, you can’t kill him. He is Dee3’s friend. He helped her come out of hiding and move to his estate. She is already heartbroken over losing one friend today. She would be devastated if another of her friends died today. If you plan to get close to Dee3, you can’t harm him in any way," Maeve immediately asked Kidd to give up on his mission as if he went through it, it would ruin any chance of him becoming Dee3’s acquaintance let alone a close confidant.

"Who said anything about killing anyone? I just plan to capture and interrogate him," Kidd lied. He planned to kill the boy after he answered if Prince McSuile was right about him infiltrating the secret base Wulfric and conversing with the Overlords’ descendant in detention.

"Really?" Maeve asked skeptically. After all, Kidd’s bloodlust was known to all that worked with him.

"Yes. E.A.D. Matthews had reported suspicions about Ace having hacked into the local C.I.B. branch’s curse servers. I’m just here to check on her suspicions," Kidd explained, knowing that Maeve wouldn’t trust him if he answered with a simple no.

"If he did?" Maeve asked sternly, knowing what Kidd’s answer was going to be.

"Madam Maeve, I am here on a mission to clean. If I don’t, someone else will. And I don’t like the thought. Let us just hope for the best," Kidd decisively conveyed.

He hated losing. Especially to someone weaker and less competent than him both physically and intellectually. So much so that just the thought of it gets him riled up. It was also one of the reasons why he chased the boy to his estate after the boy wrecked three of his stealth curse droids with ease.

"..." Maeve stared hard at Kidd, knowing he was right. She had the same employer. If the government wanted the boy dead, it was only inevitable. Any form of struggle would only prolong the fear and pain. Then slowly closing her eyes, she requested, "Just handle it quickly and don’t make it messy. Dee3 doesn’t need to know about this."

Maeve agreed with Kidd and assured him that his secret was safe with her.

"It is going to be hard to handle it without a mess. The boy is capable and has a home field advantage. Not to mention, my hands are tied with these many spectators out here," Kidd said, knowing that it was going to be hard for him to deal with Ace without alerting Dee3. Especially with so many eyes and ears out here. His droids had him outranked and out numbered yet Ace won. Clearly, without the necessary measures, taking him down quickly and quietly would be hard.
