Chapter 141 Rescue and Silence
Chapter 141 Rescue and Silence
Almost instantly, Lynch locked onto the so-called intruder through the crow's vision—a car rapidly falling from the sky, its Muggle-like appearance clashing with the magical world's sky, creating an absurd and perilous scene.
But now is not the time to delve into the origins of this car.
The raven's sharp pupils narrowed, instantly piercing the windshield and clearly capturing the two familiar yet terrified figures in the driver's seat: Ron Weasley and Harry Potter, their eyes closed, their faces pale, being carried by the out-of-control vehicle toward the infamous Whomping Willow.
"Danger!" Lin Qi's eyes sharpened.
At that speed, anyone inside the car would be seriously injured, if not killed, let alone the two children who clearly hadn't taken any protective measures.
In the blink of an eye, the air around the crow suspended in the air distorted, and the next moment, Lin Qi's figure appeared silently to the side of the trajectory of the fall.
He swiftly formed a complex and ancient hand seal, soft silver-white light flowing from his fingertips. Just before the steel creation was about to collide with the Man-Beating Willow, he calmly pointed forward:
"Stop the shock absorbers and reduce speed!"
As if held firmly by an invisible yet enormous soft hand, the car, carrying immense kinetic energy, suddenly came to a halt, suspended in mid-air. All the impact was instantly dissolved and absorbed by a wondrous magic.
Only Harry and Ron's screams of extreme terror continued, carried on by inertia, sounding exceptionally clear in the suddenly silent night sky.
They screamed for several seconds before belatedly realizing that the expected excruciating pain had not yet arrived.
The two opened their eyes in fear, only to find that the branches of the Man-Beating Willow were frozen just inches in front of them, unable to move forward an inch.
However, this brief calm was extremely fragile. Perhaps it sensed the threat of the nearby metal object, or perhaps it was completely enraged by the violent airflow and continuous screams. The massive trunk of the "Hit-Man Willow" suddenly trembled, like an ancient beast awakened. Countless thick branches suddenly burst forth with furious energy, like countless violent whips, slamming down hard on the car that was hovering in front of it!
boom! boom! boom!
The heavy thuds sounded like the beating of drums.
The car window shattered instantly, scattering glass everywhere. The car body groaned under the frenzied impact, instantly developing numerous dents and gradually deforming.
Harry and Ron inside the car screamed in terror again, instinctively covering their heads and curling up in fear.
Lin Qi frowned.
Most of the willow's ferocious attacks were absorbed by the car's metal shell. The two children were temporarily unharmed, but the battered vehicle was clearly overwhelmed. The willow itself also broke many branches and sap splattered as it frantically struck the hard metal.
We can't keep going on like this.
With a flick of his wrist, the output of magic power suddenly intensified, and the invisible giant hand instantly transformed into a soft air cushion, enveloping the dilapidated car. When the branches of the Man-Beating Willow struck it, they were repelled by an invisible force, without harming the car in the slightest.
Then he maneuvered the car out of the attack range of the man-beating willow.
Dang!
The car was roughly but securely "placed" on an open ground far from the willow tree. The car body was severely deformed and almost fell apart, but it was finally out of danger.
Awakened by the shock of the car hitting the ground, the screams inside the car stopped abruptly, replaced by heavy breathing from those who had survived the ordeal.
Harry and Ron, still shaken and trembling, stared blankly out the broken car window. They saw Professor Lynch standing not far away, his posture upright and his face calm and expressionless. But his eyes, which seemed particularly deep in the night and showed no emotion, silently told them that he had seen everything that had just happened.
In an instant, the last trace of color drained from Harry's face.
What's worse than making a big mistake is being caught red-handed by an elder you respect and want to leave a good impression on.
Harry felt as if the sky had fallen and the earth had collapsed. His mind went blank and he could not even remember how he crawled out of the nearly broken car. When his feet touched the ground of Hogwarts, it felt as if he were walking on cotton.
He instinctively lowered his head, not daring to look up, and mechanically moved his feet to stand in front of the still figure.
The smell of earth and grass mixed with the pungent odor of some leaking liquid from the car filled his nostrils, making him feel nauseous.
He awaited Lynch's disappointed gaze, followed by a thunderous rebuke.
However, the expected storm did not arrive.
A night breeze carried only Lin Qi's calm tone, devoid of any emotion: "You two, come with me."
After saying that, he didn't even glance at them again before turning around and walking steadily toward the brightly lit castle. His back looked as upright and composed as ever, as if he had just come out of the hall for a stroll.
Harry stood there dumbfounded, unable to comprehend the overly indifferent reaction. The huge psychological gap left him at a loss.
Ron, standing nearby, was clearly more accustomed to a direct, unfiltered roar. He glanced at Harry warily, panting, and seeing him still standing there dumbfounded, quickly nudged his arm with his elbow and urged in a low, urgent voice, "Hurry up!"
Harry suddenly snapped out of his daze, hesitated for a moment, and hurriedly followed behind the tall figure with Ron, stumbling along.
The path from the Black Lake to the castle wasn't long or short, but it was filled with a suffocating silence that stung Harry and Ron.
Only the footsteps of three people echoed in the silent night—a steady, rhythmic "tap, tap" in front, and two hurried, dragging steps behind.
Lynch's silence was more agonizing for Harry than any harsh reprimand.
Uncle Lin Qi didn't ask a single question or scold him.
He must be furious.
Harry's heart sank lower and lower, turning ice-cold.
This silence is like the indifference of someone who is too disappointed to say anything more.
He would rather his Uncle Lynch turn around and give them a good scolding right now than walk ahead in silence like this.
He glanced at Ron beside him and noticed that his friend's face was also pale and his lips were tightly pressed together, clearly under immense psychological pressure.
They were like two prisoners being led by invisible ropes, dejectedly following their "judge" toward an unknown, but inevitably tragic, end.
The castle lights drew closer, but they brought no warmth or comfort whatsoever. Instead, they seemed like the cold, indifferent eyes of a giant beast, watching their wolfish fear and trepidation.
As they reached the main gate, several figures hurriedly emerged from inside the castle.
