Chapter 476: Emma's chaotic sleep cycle

"The dojo master mentioned that gaining real combat experience would help us grow stronger faster," Riya said, taking a bite of her fruity French toast. She looked across the table at Kevin and asked, "What do you think?"

Kevin, struggling slightly as he swallowed a large bite, nodded and replied, "Your teacher's right. It's the best way to train, but for now, friendly sparring is also good for both of you."

Riya's expression grew a bit frustrated as she glanced at Lora. The two seemed to be silently communicating, plotting something. Lora then chimed in, "But sparring is too slow. We were thinking about heading to a cultivation ground to get some real experience."

"Oh, is that so?" Kevin asked, raising an eyebrow in surprise. Knowing where this conversation was headed, he added, "What do you want from me?"

Their eyes lit up with excitement as they replied in unison, "Can you give us some money to buy gear and other supplies for the trip?"

Kevin paused, considering their request. The night before, as he was returning home, he had been mulling over the situation at the Den and how he could turn a profit from it. One clear option was to venture inside the dimension gate himself, but another thought had crossed his mind—taking others, like his sister and cousin, with him. He had dismissed the idea at the time, realizing that he wasn't strong enough to protect even himself, let alone others who were weaker.

With Riya and Lora requesting training in life-and-death situations-something rarely encountered in lower-level cultivation grounds-Kevin contemplated the idea of sending them there on a regular basis. This approach could accelerate their growth and potentially make them strong enough to tackle more challenging environments like the Den. Additionally, he considered utilizing his secret weapon to further enhance their cultivation speed.

If they didn't undergo such intense training, it would likely take them years to reach his or Keith's level. Keith had also taken a considerable amount of time to achieve her current strength, but her cultivation speed had notably improved due to the methods Kevin had employed, as had the other women who frequently engaged in similar practices with him. He could also have them gather materials to sell in his store as they fought monsters and other dangers. However, the thought of their inexperience troubled him; they were as green as he had been when he first started hunting for materials.

The news made her smile fade into concern. "Is it safe? Those places can be pretty dangerous, right?"

Riya waved a hand dismissively. "Don't worry, Kevin's sending someone with us. If there's anything we can't handle, they'll take care of it."

Emma turned to Kevin, her worry evident. "Are you sure it's safe, though Kevin? I mean, it's not just about having someone there, right?"

Kevin nodded reassuringly. "It'll be fine, Aunty. I wouldn't let them go if I thought it was too dangerous." he said and taking last bite of the toast he continued, "and they can gather some herbs and things to sell at store while they are there."

Emma nodded, though worry was still etched across her face. It was only natural-her only daughter was about to face dangerous monsters that Emma had neither seen nor heard of before. Any parent would be anxious if their child was about to undertake something so perilous. Kevin sighed, sensing the tension, and decided to change the subject. "Aunty you and mom, surprisingly sleep a lot these days."

"Yeah, Mom, you sometimes even nap in the afternoon till night and then again at night how could you sleep this long," Lora chimed in, causing Emma to blush and shoot a slightly annoyed look at Kevin. He was the reason for her chaotic sleep cycle.

Riya added with a grin, "This past Sunday, my mom slept from the evening until the next afternoon. Can you believe it?"

Maria wasn't there to witness the exchange, but if she had been, she might have shared Emma's embarrassed and frustrated reaction. Emma, avoiding eye contact with Riya and Lora, replied with a touch of defensiveness, "So what if we sleep a bit longer than you youngsters? Does that really cause you any problems?"

"Chill out, Mom," Lora said, taken aback by Emma's sudden irritation. "We were just making an observation."

Emma's cheeks flushed a deep red, her frustration barely contained as she struggled to keep her composure. Kevin, seated nearby, couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, which only fueled her irritation. She shot him an angry glance, making his smile wider and more teasing.
