Chapter 420 - 248: Unreasonably Overwhelming Firepower
Starlight Continent, Southeastern Region.
High above in the sky, the void suddenly twisted, as if an invisible claw had torn through, leaving a huge rift.
The rift slowly opened to both sides, and from within emerged a towering Wizard Tower at a speed that seemed slow but was actually fast.
The massive tower body was deep and pitch-black, appearing as if it was made of obsidian, shining with a cold, eerie sheen.
On both sides, there were structures resembling curved horns, like watchtowers or turrets, complementing the straight central main tower. From a distance, it looked like a pitch-black claw, emanating a chilling and sinister aura.
After more than ten breaths, the Wizard Tower completely emerged from the rift, suspended high in the sky.
The rift behind then slowly vanished.
Buzz!
An invisible wave radiated rapidly from the Wizard Tower, spreading in all directions, instantly covering an area of tens of kilometers.
Simultaneously, a cold and monotonous voice echoed from the top floor of the Wizard Tower.
[Initiating detection field, scanning an area of thirty kilometers around.]

[Material environment detection in progress...]
[Scan complete.]
As the voice fell, a three-dimensional model panorama appeared out of the void, with lines of text densely annotated above the model.
Liam swiftly scanned those texts and nodded slightly.
"Not bad, the energy particle concentration of Starlight Continent is almost back to the level of two thousand years ago."
Behind Liam stood two other Wizards.
The Wizard on the left had half of his cheek flesh completely gone, revealing ghastly white bones, looking very frightening.
The Wizard on the right still had a complete cheek, but had a skeletal head on his neck, with two points of cyan flame flickering faintly in the hollow eye sockets, vaguely revealing that it was once canine.
Upon hearing Liam’s words, the Bone-faced Wizard showed a sinister and creepy smile, and said in a hoarse voice, "If not for the Elemental Desert, Starlight Continent’s energy particle concentration and resources would have been much better than many other planes. As long as we seize Starlight Continent before other Wizard influences, we can get another resource plane."
The Dog-headed Wizard clicked his tongue, and said regretfully, "It’s a pity that Starlight Continent’s resources haven’t returned to its peak, otherwise we could take advantage of this opportunity to loot, and have cultivation resources for the next few decades."
"Be content." The Bone-faced Wizard chuckled, "If that were the case, this mission wouldn’t fall to us, it would have been snatched by those Crown Wizards’ lineage!"
The Dog-headed Wizard pursed his lips but didn’t argue, obviously agreeing with his companion’s words.
The Crown Wizards’ lineage are like a pack of greedy wolves, seizing any high-reward low-risk missions, leaving behind only the tough ones as hard as bones.
Occasionally, they would encounter a few low-difficulty missions, but due to the low rewards, those from the Crown lineage wouldn’t care about them, hence they end up with them.
In the Dark Throne where it’s a survival of the fittest, those like them, who are exploited, often find themselves in an awkward position.
"Alright, don’t talk too much about trivial matters."
Liam interrupted the two’s conversation, his gaze deep and somber.
"The energy particle concentration here is ultimately inferior to the Moonlight Plane. If we waste too much time here, it will delay our cultivation, let’s deal with things here quickly and head back."
The Bone-faced Wizard and Dog-headed Wizard thought the same, refraining from further talk, with the latter taking out a bone whistle and blowing it hard.
There was no sound, but an eerie wave was generated out of nowhere, seemingly spreading across a great distance, crossing through layers of void.
Afterwards, the three waited patiently.
However, when half the day had passed, no one arrived.
As time passed, Liam’s expression grew darkened.
The Bone-faced and Dog-headed Wizards also sensed something was off, their brows furrowing deeply.
"Could it be that Evan and the others are caught up in something?"
"What could there be on this continent that would hold twelve Wizards? Even if they can’t leave immediately, they could send a bone owl with a message, but now there’s no sign of it, something’s definitely gone wrong!"
As the two spoke, they suddenly saw Liam’s expression change as he reached out into the void, grabbing a bone owl that appeared out of thin air, struggling in his palm.
Seeing the bone owl, the Bone-faced and Dog-headed Wizards relaxed.
Since there’s a message-bearing bone owl, the situation shouldn’t be too bad.
But immediately, they realized something was wrong, for the bone owl showed no intention of transmitting a message.
Liam’s eyes flickered, and with a sudden clench of his fingers, he crushed the bone owl with a snap, causing a pea-sized azure light speck to emerge from the shattered bones.
With lightning reflexes, Liam reached out, touching the azure light speck with his forefinger, and immediately a faint wave of light spread out like a ripple, forming a mirror-like light screen suspended in the void.
Images flickered across the light screen, showing a series of scenes.
The image quality wasn’t very clear, but one could vaguely make out a battle.
One side was Evan.
The other side consisted of three identical girls, and four gigantic metallic squids.
Liam and his companions immediately recognized them as puppets.
The battle lasted less than ten minutes, with Evan quickly defeated, then knocked out and taken away by the puppets.
The images ended there, the light screen dispersed, transforming into light particles that slowly vanished into the air.
And Liam and his companions’ expressions had turned unspeakably grim.
It was clear that something had happened to Evan and the others.
