Chapter 1988 - 1986: [Did the Old Monk Succeed or Fail?]
Chapter 1988 - 1986: [Did the Old Monk Succeed or Fail?]
What truly exists within the Blood Mist region that has led countless strong individuals throughout history to sail on the Ghost Light Ship, yet remain unable to cross through?Although it’s hard to say that the Blood Mist region is a massive Rune Formation, as there isn’t the slightest indication of a Rune Formation being present, Ye Tianchen still feels this area must be controlled by a Rune Formation. Otherwise, how could there be so many potent beings who can’t pass through here even when sailing on the Ghost Light Ship?
Ye Tianchen let the Black and White Impermanence brothers sense everything here, bit by bit, hoping to find a breakthrough method. Meanwhile, Ye Tianchen selected one of the three unoccupied Ghost Light Ships, specifically one without a guiding copper lamp, feeling he should be able to discover something significant aboard!
As Ye Tianchen stepped onto the Ghost Light Ship lacking even a copper lamp, the first thing he heard was a familiar sound. Immediately, Ye Tianchen recognized it as the Buddhist Sect sound, startling him; it seemed that once, a strong Buddhist Sect individual had arrived here, aiming to reach the true Medicine King Valley to obtain something desired. But did this sect’s strong individual succeed, or fail?
What puzzled Ye Tianchen the most was the lack of a copper lamp on this unoccupied Ghost Light Ship. Could it be intentional by the high monk from the Buddhist Sect? Was it arrogance? It shouldn’t be. Yet everyone knows that in ancient times, to traverse Corpse Mountain Blood Sea one must have a ghost ship and a copper lamp. This high monk surely knows this and could find a copper lamp, so what reason led him to not hang a copper lamp on the Ghost Light Ship’s bow?
"There must be a reason!" Ye Tianchen thought to himself.
Gradually, another scene indeed appeared before Ye Tianchen’s eyes. A high monk from the Buddhist Sect now stood in this Corpse Mountain Blood Sea, wearing a kasaya, looking extraordinarily aged. However, his eyes were sharp and electric, filled with Essence, Energy, Spirit. After surveying his surroundings, the old monk calmly stated:
"Corpse Mountain Blood Sea, did the significant figure who arranged this scene want to hide something deep within Medicine King Valley?"
The old monk didn’t linger long but waved his right hand, promptly obtaining some bones from the nine Corpse Mountains, quickly constructing a Ghost Light Ship. He tossed the Ghost Light Ship into the Blood Sea and, upon seeing it float, a copper lamp appeared in his right hand. Yet after hesitating, he didn’t use the copper lamp but threw it into the Blood Sea instead. Ye Tianchen was shocked witnessing this; why did the old monk act this way?
Whoosh!
The high monk landed on the Ghost Light Ship, sat cross-legged, very calmly, with palms pressed together as if meditating, slowly letting the ship drift toward a certain direction, the high monk closed his eyes to rest!
"Hmm? I can’t discern this old monk’s Cultivation Realm? Seeing his calm demeanor, he must be very strong!" Ye Tianchen thought, surprised as he regained his composure.
Ye Tianchen didn’t understand why the Buddhist Sect’s old monk, after constructing the Ghost Light Ship, threw the copper lamp into the Blood Sea and didn’t use it. What is this all about? Only by continuing to watch can one find out!
Silence!
Floating!
In complete tranquility, the entire Blood Sea was shrouded in a mysterious, terrifying aura. The old monk, sitting cross-legged with palms pressed together, eyes slightly closed, slowly drifted on the unlit Ghost Light Ship into the Blood Sea’s Blood Mist region.
Upon entering the Blood Mist region, the old monk slowly opened his eyes, glanced around, and murmured to himself: "Such formidable Rune Formation, making it impossible to perceive it in any way. The one who set up this Rune Array must at least be at the Saint Realm. What exactly is hidden in Medicine King Valley?"
The Buddhist Sect’s old monk seemed to have discovered something unique, but he didn’t immediately rush out of the Blood Mist region. Instead, he gradually closed his eyes again, letting the Ghost Light Ship float on the Blood Sea, while he pressed palms together, slowly chanting some Buddhist Scriptures. This caused a sacred sound of the Buddhist Sect to echo throughout the Blood Sea, appearing eerie, almost like two opposing forces clashing invisibly, with the old monk using the sacred Buddhist sound to subtly confront the forces of Corpse Mountain Blood Sea!
No one knows how much time has passed. The old monk continuously chants the Buddhist Scriptures aloud, and even Ye Tianchen is bewildered. It feels like the old monk has been on the Blood Sea for at least several dozen days, continuously chanting these scriptures without a moment’s pause, and he hasn’t boarded the Ghost Light Ship to leave this area. What is going on? What is he trying to achieve?
Suddenly, the old monk opened his eyes, looked at the surrounding Blood Mist, and couldn’t help but smile slightly, saying: "Is this the secret of this Rune Array? It seems my guess wasn’t wrong. Initially, no guidance was needed; one’s own heart is the best guide. That’s why I discarded the bronze lamp. But after ten years, I still haven’t crossed this Blood Mist region. Will I ultimately fail?"
Hearing the old monk’s self-talk, Ye Tianchen was taken aback. Ten years? So fast? He saw the old monk sitting cross-legged on the Ghost Light Ship, and suddenly ten years had passed? It was hard to believe. One could imagine that in such a terrifying Corpse Mountain Blood Sea that could frighten someone to death, even staying for a second would be enough to make someone want to die, to flee. The loneliness, despair, and aura of death always encompassing you, with no hope, could drive someone mad. Yet this old monk had floated in the Blood Mist of the Blood Sea for ten years; how immense is this perseverance?
"Ten years have passed? This Buddhist old monk has drifted in the Blood Sea for ten years, could it be..."
Suddenly, Ye Tianchen seemed to realize something. Through what the old monk said when he first arrived at the Corpse Mountain Blood Sea, and the subsequent words upon opening his eyes, always singing the sacred sound of Buddhism, and the signs of drifting for ten years, Ye Tianchen seemed to understand something and couldn’t help but say to himself:
"So that’s it, so that’s it. This blood mist area is a place to test the perseverance of living beings. Anyone who can’t withstand the test, whether flying through the air with Qi Manipulation Flight or swimming through the Blood Sea, has very little chance of success. Only those who can’t withstand such extreme loneliness and despair have no possibility of passing through this Blood Mist!"
Ye Tianchen thought of many things. He knew why this Buddhist old monk is different from other people wanting to cross the Blood Sea. It’s because the Buddhist old monk’s Mental Realm and understanding of everything are entirely different. In his view, to cross the Blood Sea and pass through this Blood Mist, only four words are needed: "Follow your heart."
Every strong person who arrives at this Corpse Mountain Blood Sea and wants to cross the Blood Sea to reach the real Medicine King Valley will build a Ghost Light Ship according to ancient legends, using a special bronze lamp as guidance. But when they reach the Blood Mist area, they get trapped. No matter what, they can’t pass through the Blood Mist. Often, after drifting for a few days or dozens of days, exhausting all methods and Divine Skills, people fall into a state of despair. In this state, they would act recklessly, and that is the most dangerous time!
The Buddhist old monk saw through this point, so he didn’t use the bronze lamp to guide his direction but instead sat cross-legged on the Ghost Light Ship, allowing it to drift on its own. He simply remained true to his heart, unbiased and unmoved, not disturbed by anything. Loneliness, despair, and confusion were all kept at bay by this Buddhist old monk; he merely perceived everything within this Corpse Mountain Blood Sea, using his heart as the guiding light!
He stood up!
Just as Ye Tianchen understood why this Buddhist old monk did what he did, the monk stood up from his seated cross-legged position, looked in a particular direction, and muttered to himself: "That should be the direction leading to the Medicine King Valley. If I fail, my blood will spill upon this Corpse Mountain. If I succeed, perhaps there will be no hope of returning here again!"
Whoosh!
The Buddhist old monk vanished from the Ghost Light Ship, flew in a direction, and his figure disappeared into the Blood Mist, which startled Ye Tianchen. He wondered if this was the method to pass through the Blood Mist. Did this Buddhist old monk succeed?
Whoosh!
A line of blood descended from the direction the old monk flew, falling into the Blood Sea. Ye Tianchen was stunned, his hope turning to disappointment. Did the Buddhist old monk fail despite such a method, such a Mental Realm, and such strength?
Ye Tianchen snapped back to reality, standing dazed on the unmanned and unlit Ghost Light Ship, stunned and speechless. After a long time, he came to his senses, climbed down from the unlit Ghost Light Ship, and murmured in a daze:
"Perhaps I have found the way to cross this Blood Sea, or perhaps I haven’t. Have you two gotten anything? Can you unravel..."
When Ye Tianchen looked up, he was even more stunned because, on their Ghost Light Ship, there was no one there. Black and White Impermanence had disappeared, which shocked Ye Tianchen. What happened? Why did Black and White Impermanence disappear? Did they find a way through the Blood Mist and left him behind, or did they encounter something eerie, causing their disappearance...
