Chapter 46 Simple Experiments
Chapter 46 Simple Experiments
"Everyone has secrets, including you, Professor."
Upon hearing Suren's answer, the professor paused, opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing.
After a moment, he shook his head and laughed self-deprecatingly.
"You're right, everyone has secrets, and we shouldn't waste time on this kind of thing."
The professor then stood up, picked up the eyeball, strode to the cabinet where he often kept his materials, and took out several different plants. One bundle looked as ordinary as roadside weeds, except that it had a shiny sheen.
"The cost of materials and preparation is 20 pounds in total." The professor pointed to the materials and briefly stated the price. Suren nodded slightly upon hearing this.
Professor Devont took the items and walked to the lab bench. He picked up several transparent glasswares and an alcohol lamp and placed them in the center of the bench. He lit the wick and began to prepare the medicine for Suren.
A pale blue light flickered in his hand, and the withered grass in his hand softened under his power, falling into the vessel.
While demonstrating, the professor steered the conversation back to the issue of "blasphemy against creation."
"In reality, due to the limitations of alchemy, after creating a 'Demon Heart' into a 'Blasphemy Creation,' it often only gains one related ability randomly. This can lead to some bad situations—" High-level 'Blasphemy Creations' may have weaker abilities, while low-level 'Blasphemy Creations' may have decent abilities, but their strength is too low.
As he spoke, Professor Derwent continued his work, placing the eyeball into another container, where it slowly softened into a liquid as the professor injected his "Source of Knowledge."
"Therefore, some powerful alchemists created 'Ascension Alchemy,' but the cost was extremely high. Upgrading a low-level 'Blasphemy' often required double the materials, and the requirements for the alchemist were also extremely high."
Professor Devont's hands flew across the lab table, so fast that Suren couldn't even keep up with his movements. With each step, a strange odor began to fill the laboratory, like the smell of burning herbs mixed with minerals.
Finally, the professor's movements slowed down. He picked up the medicine bottle placed on the lab bench and slowly poured in the prepared liquid. A thin stream flowed through the air, gleaming like amber under the light.
The professor then put down the equipment and picked up a dry cloth from the lab table to wipe his hands.
On the lab table, two bottles of orange-yellow medicine stood quietly.
Suren took out her wallet, which contained about 30 pounds for backup, and the rest of her funds were stored in the "Mandala Ring".
He counted out 20 pounds and handed it to the professor, who took the gold pounds from Suren, counted them, and then put them in his coat pocket.
Suren looked at the two bottles of potions on the table and asked, "What are the effects of these two potions?"
"Based on my analysis, it's most likely something like concealment. After all, I haven't fully analyzed the structure, so I can only guess." The professor shifted his gaze to Suren, raised his hand and gestured. "Actually, the potions made from the derivative materials basically retain the abilities of the demon that dropped the materials. You can recall the scene at that time."
The battle scene from that night flashed through Suren's mind. The monster vanished into thin air, as if it had never existed. Even his [Mirror Transmission] could not detect it. Rather than invisibility, it was as if its very "existence" had been erased.
"If that's the case, it's quite powerful. During the duration of the potion, it's equivalent to having unlimited initiative. If the opponent is a demon without intelligence, the duration is like hitting a stationary target."
Suren made some judgments in his mind: if these two potions were used properly, they could even kill a "Dominator Demon" that was above its level.
Suren reached out and picked up the two vials of potion, casually placing them into the storage pouch at her waist. Of course, the potions were instantly transferred to the "Mandala Ring" the moment they were placed inside.
The professor was tidying up the lab bench. After a simple reset and wipe, the two returned to the living room together.
Karl was still standing there in the living room, in the same position he had been in when Suren and the professor left.
Suren chuckled. He walked over and patted Karl on the shoulder. Karl jumped up from the sofa like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. After seeing that it was Suren, he gave an embarrassed smile.
"Alright, it's about time to go back. Professor Derwent also has his own things to do." Suren shook his head helplessly. "Whatever it is, you can think about it when you get home after you've paid the bounty."
The two bid farewell to Professor De Went, and all that remained were trivial matters such as delivering the bounty.
The sky quickly darkened completely. Suren was sitting alone in the room. The dim light of the gas lamp illuminated the "Tears of Ellie" on the table, next to which was a small piece of pork, which Suren had bought at the market that evening.
Now that it has been confirmed that "Ellie's Tears" is the mysterious "Aksha Relic," Suren naturally wants to figure out its function.
After all, it would be a lie to say that one wouldn't be tempted by a sacred artifact that can grow.
As Suren looked at "Ellie's Tears," the images that flashed through her mind after she had held it before flashed back.
Based on his previous speculation, its ability was either healing or proliferation; in short, it was most likely related to life. If it was the latter, he could simply use the "Eye of Withering" to eliminate it.
Suren drew his dagger and made several small cuts on the piece of pork.
He then held "Ellie's Tears" in his palm, feeling a cool sensation. He activated "Source of Knowledge," and the necklace emitted a pale blue light, but the piece of pork next to it remained unchanged.
Suren frowned, pondered for a moment, and then suddenly remembered something. Perhaps "Ellie's Tears" was the same as "Mandala's Ring," requiring contact to use.
He then extended his right hand, pressed his index finger on the pork, took a deep breath, and once again activated "Source of Knowledge" to inject it into the necklace.
A green light surged up, and the cut on the surface of the pork began to wriggle slightly, with some fleshy buds appearing in the middle. In just a moment, the cut healed.
"It's effective. Is this a treatment?" Suren's eyes lit up, and she felt a surge of joy.
However, Suren's joy was short-lived. After the incisions healed, the treatment did not stop but instead intensified, and Suren's "Source Knowledge" kept flowing into "Ellie's Tears".
The piece of meat was thrashing about on the table, like a lump of flesh that had come to life. Tiny bumps bulged on the surface of the meat, bursting open one by one and growing layers of pink fleshy buds, layer upon layer, making one's scalp tingle.
Seeing this, Suren quickly released his grip and simultaneously cut off the injection of "Source Knowledge".
However, the mutation of the pork continued, with the granulation tissue on its edges turning over and constantly growing new flesh.
With a thought, Suren's "Eye of Withering" appeared in his hand. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, the center of the flesh suddenly lost its color, and the flesh buds in that area withered.
The whole piece of meat looked like a faded photograph, with gray spreading from the center while the outer fleshy buds were still turning, the living and dead parts intertwined, creating an extremely eerie scene.
Suren frowned but did not pull the trigger.
In no time, the entire piece of meat turned completely grayish-white. It lay on the table, its surface covered with cracked lines, like a dried rag.
