The envoy from the Democratic Union stayed for two days before heading back home. When they left, it seemed that they were satisfied with the deal that they had gotten.
Or rather, it seemed like First Lieutenant Jostin was happy with the deal that they had gotten while Second Lieutenant Riza seemed like she wasn't a part of it.
After First Lieutenant Jostin took over, Second Lieutenant Riza just hadn't been included in the matters of the deal at all. So it wasn't strange that she wouldn't be too happy about what happened.
However, there was nothing that she could do since First Lieutenant Jostin had the backing of certain people.
With the backing of those people, there really was nothing that Second Lieutenant Riza could have done.
The only thing that she could do was accept that this was how things were going to go.
With the matter of the Democratic Union taken care of, it didn't seem like anything else was going to happen.
That was until I received a report.
"Strange happenings? What do you mean by strange happenings?" I couldn't help asking the messenger that brought the report to me.
In this report, there were records that there had been some strange things happening, but there were no real details about what kind of strange things they were. So I couldn't help wondering just what they were referring to when they reported strange happenings.
"It's hard to explain." The messenger seemed to have a strange look on their face as they said this.
I raised a brow to look at the messenger when he said this.
After all, it seemed very suspicious with the way that the messenger was reporting this. It even almost seemed like this was some kind of trap that was being set for me, so I didn't want to go with them.
But the thing was that the report was about the territory that I governed previously.
The two of them still looked at me with worried looks, so I added, "I'll be going with an escort, so it'll be fine. Not to mention, it's my former territory, so what danger can I be in there?"
The two of them slowly nodded in agreement, but it also seemed like they were still a bit worried.
In the end, they accepted what I said and agreed with my plan.
Though what I didn't tell them was that I felt that there was something strange about this. It felt like there was something familiar about the things that were written on the report.
It felt like I had seen them somewhere before, even if I didn't know exactly what it was.
So I had to at least take a look for myself.
With the escort, it didn't take long for us to arrive in my former territory.
The one that was running this place for me immediately came forward to greet me, but I just waved my hand and said, "Bring me to where the incidents happened."
The mayor was well trained by Rose, so he just quickly gave a nod and led me to the places that were described in the report that I received.
When we arrived, I started looking around while asking him to describe what happened.
It didn't take long for me to notice a few things.
After stroking it with one finger, I brought that finger to my thumb to rub it together as if I was testing something. Looking at it for a bit, I suddenly said, "So it really is that. Only why would they show themselves like this all of a sudden?"
The others that heard this had a confused look on their faces as they looked at me, but I didn't explain what I meant by this.
Instead, I asked, "Has there been a place where the animals have been gathering recently?"
"Huh?" The mayor was confused to hear this, but I just looked at him with a calm look, waiting for an answer.
So in the end, he said, "I'll go find out."
