RED NOTES AND KISSES

Chapter 137: FRIDA - 137

Chapter 137: FRIDA - 137

Frida’s Pov:

Tiny droplets of rain fell from the sky and she hissed.

Darn it, a dark cloud was gathering for a huge storm.

These types of storms caused flooding and drought in the land making it very difficult to plant and also destroy crops from erosion.

The climate condition of the empire was nothing to feel safe about especially when traveling alone.

The paths were dangerous.

She heard a sound and slowed down Fletcher "Yeeee...Wesley do you hear that?" she whispered while listening to the darkness.

Fear came to bite her, what if her father had managed to catch up with her.

Even though she had been traveling for a while now.

With his large footsteps it would be easy for him to cover the distance she had crossed quickly.

It scared her to the point where she suffered goosebumps.

There was no way out of this.

She sensed something, a dark omen.

Evil eyes were lurking in the atmosphere and thunder rumbled in the sky like a hungry beast.

Suddenly out of the fields sprang darkness shaped like men with swords, their faces were covered and she froze in place looking for an escape route in the, it was total darkness there was nothing but land.

She gulped with worry that they were going to kill her. She wondered just as a tall man walked forward "Tattered clothes, donkey and scraps to eat...she’s definitely not rich nor is she royal. This is not the princess damn it." the man exclaimed in anger and she sat perfectly still.

"Isn’t the princess at least one and five years...this looks like a kid." The tall man growled at his men.

"I’ve had a long night, we haven’t found her. It’s possible she used another safer route. Let’s return back, will gather more information about her in the meantime." he said, turning and walking away.

He stood very still and one asked "And this girl sir?"

"Kill her." he ordered with a wave of his hand and they unsheathed their blades.

She didn’t know where she got the bravery from, but she was not ready to die again "I can be useful to you!" she yelled at the top of her voice and he stopped in his tracks.

"Really?" he turned and asked with his arms folded.

She could hear each beat her heart made in an attempt to pump blood, the effort of her arteries and veins to aid circulation when she wanted to literally freeze to death.

"Yes, I can go places you can’t. I look unsuspicious in daylight, I can walk into rooms and collect information you can’t. I can infiltrate homes and no one would suspect a thing....I can be useful to you." she said again with a false confidence.

He chuckled, his dangerous aura mixed with her fascination in the darkness. "Are you not afraid little one?"

"I am afraid....but this is my choice." She said,

"And what would you gain from that?" he asked, truly curious.

"Protection, I want to be untouchable." she said in one breath.

He nodded as if trying to comprehend what he thought "In our line of work protection isn’t guaranteed." he informed her.

"Yes but I would not be easily killed, sold or intimidated....I will be able to protect myself." she said and the men awaited for their master’s command.

"Follow us." he said simply and she followed them into the tall grass field.

The journey was long and tedious; they camped in-between the bushes and insects bit her without mercy or compassion.

She was scared she would fall ill before morning but worse she was surrounded by strange men and could barely sleep.

They didn’t sleep either. They smoked for hours and talked so she was up all night until the morning sun rose up at early seven am.

Her eyes were heavy and her body cold with goosebumps.

Her stomach growled in hunger as Wesley snuggled in her lap "You must be hungry too." She sighed going to where Fletcher had slept outside the tent.

"Good morning Fletcher, hope you had a kind night." the donkey gave a nod and she chuckled as she picked out three carrots from her sack.

"One for you." she gave Wesley, "one for you too." She also gave Fletcher.

Before she settled down you eat her carrots.

She had survived the only way she knew how by pledging to the master.

Life was sad since she basically just ran away to be free and not murdered.

Only to end up not free and in the midst of murderers.

A small guy walked up to her "The Master wants to see you." he said gruffly and left.

She sighed following behind him into a busy tent where the men were drinking and eating.

Loads of food mounted on their tables, roasted chicken, beef, rice and sauces with wine.

She was surprised, She had never seen so much food in so long. "Ah look at her terribly malnourished, even with her pretty face it is severely unattractive to see so many bones."

The men laughed while eating to their fill as she stood there waiting to find who was the master.

She hadn’t seen his face in the darkness and seeing their faces now, scarred, terrifying and empty.

These men would kill her without a second thought so she dared not speak up for herself.

They were the worst of vermin "Are you laughing at my ward Dazzy?" a very loud deep voice provoked silence from the men and an aura of fear followed.

She felt him behind her and she stiffened, she hadn’t even sensed him there at all.

He was a master of stealth if they didn’t even know when he stepped in "Master Song we dare not."

They all bowed slightly, even their eating and chatting stopped. No one dared make a single sound.

She felt a sweat drop down the slope of her back, she was afraid as she felt his hand large on her small shoulders "Come with me." he gruffed.

And she followed him, not knowing whether it was life or death that he led her towards.
