Chapter 365: Forgotten and Fate
Chapter 365: Forgotten and Fate
Aether stared at the girl, fate? Had he heard correctly, or was he hearing things?"Vessel of Fate?" Aether asked, surprised by Sena’s random and blunt confession.
Nova nodded with a small smirk on her face. "The one and only." Sena walked around the bench, sitting down next to him, making Aether slide onto the other side a bit, making space for her.
"Well, you must understand that it is not normal for me to hear, I mean, I would have never expected to meet the mighty Fate. I doubt anyone in the Withered would-"
Sena leaned close, very close, not letting him finish. "Who are you?" She tilted his head while staring at her.
Aether staggered back, confused. "I’m just a boy from the Withered who had the luck to become a Seeker... I’m not that special." He said... he really didn’t want to get close to her; he didn’t know why, but he felt as if it was better if he didn’t know.
After all, fate was hated by most for a reason...
Though Freedom was loved by the majority, and yet he and Lilith had a very bad relationship, so maybe he was a bit quick to judge... either way, he wasn’t going to reveal who he was anytime soon; it was bad enough that two people knew already.
Sena smirked widely. "You’re such a bad liar." Suddenly she raised a finger, where a small purple string rested; following it with his gaze, he saw that it was wrapped around his waist. His eyes instantly widened. His hand flew to try to take it off, but his hands just passed through.
"This is the String of Fate. One of my abilities; it leads me to something or someone that will have an important role in the future, so I’ll ask again, who are you?"
Aether frowned, before letting his facial muscles calm down. This wasn’t great; it was clear. She was trouble; to think that a Vessel would already have the ability to see who or what was related to the future was insane, but then again, a Vessel was a Vessel.
It was ironic that all the other he had met had all been so amazing... well, Praise hasn’t been that impressive, but he had hardly met Iris, and he wasn’t able to see what she was truly capable of since he never fought against her and her party at that time. So who knows, maybe she was very impressive.
Outside her, Lilith was a monster, and he didn’t need any other explanation on why he was so incredible, and Sena... while they had only met for a few minutes, she was already proving to be amazing.
Though still, he couldn’t say the truth; he didn’t wish to do so.
Aether sighed. "I’m the Vessel of the Abyss."
...
...
Aether stared with wide eyes at Sena... what had just happened? He was sure he had wanted to say something else, so what the heck just happened?
Sena burst out laughing, clenching her stomach. "That’s my second ability, Fate of Words; it makes you speak a lie when telling the truth, and tell the truth when you lie... It’s a bit annoying since I have to figure out which it was, but it’s going to get better as I rise in class... probably."
What kind of ability was that! Why couldn’t he get abilities like this? He was also a Vessel; no, instead he had to get the ability to talk to shadows, which was great, but nothing like this, and then he wasn’t even going to talk about his other ability he got in Frozen Crown, that was nowhere near this level.
Though, it was true that he wasn’t a Vessel anymore when he got it.
Sena finished her lollipop, throwing the stick in a nearby trash can, as she leaned close to Aether again. "Normally I would think this is an obvious lie, and that you had just repeated the same thing you had said before; however... the fact that String of Fate is connected to you, and your origin, and above all, the fact that what you said isn’t a very general lie... makes me believe this is the truth. Am I right? Forgotten?"
Aether frowned, flicking Sena’s forehead. "It’s completely not the truth." He said, flicking her forehead.
The girl massaged her forehead as she laughed. "And that was a lie. I should probably stop my ability, though. It will get confusing fast."
...
That made three that knew his identity, and to think that she learned it so easily... she really wasn’t to mess with. Though he had to say, her reaction to the fact that he was Fallen Eden’s Vessel was... pretty anticlimactic.
Sena leaned back, looking a bit at the cherry trees around them, before looking back at him with a smile. "Seems like the fifth is finally here, makes me wonder if something will finally happen... after all, my String of Fate never wrapped around all the other Vessels, yet it did with you... It’s so interesting, it makes me excited."
She had one wicked smile that he could say, a very creepy one.
"Whatever." He said, getting up. "I have my own things in mind; I don’t really care that much for fate." He smiled, looking back at Sena. "No hard feelings, I’m already in bad terms with Freedom; I don’t want to be on Fate’s bad side too." After that, he felt, leaving Sena smiling on the bench... as if she had found something very interesting.
Normally, he would be quite annoyed that Fate was connected to him; if it wasn’t to any of the other vessels, it had to mean that he had an important role... but at the moment he really didn’t care. He had his own goals in mind; if Fate wanted him, then so be it, but for him that was less important.
...
Getting back into his Dorm, Aether lay in his bed. "I guess I could check what this pin is capable of. Tomorrow I’m starting school, so I’ll be caught up with other stuff; it’s better to take care of it now."
Abilities-[The Moon’s eyes], [Eternal Moon],[Blessed by Shade],[Light of the Moon], [Rest Under the Moon’s shade].
[The Moon’s eyes]- The Moon’s sees all; under its gaze, everything is clearer, nothing shall be left out, as its light reflects among the night. This ability makes the user’s awareness stronger when night comes.
Aether eyes widened, awareness? It was actually something he needed. In Demon of Dread, his lack of awareness showed in Eden; now he wasn’t able to see those weak monsters, and heck, who knew how many others he had missed. This was a great matchup. Even if by itself, it didn’t help that much.
[Eternal Moon]- The Moon has lit up the night for centuries, far beyond humanity has lived, or any organism. Some may call it eternal, blessed by the gods to shine forever. This ability gives the relic the ability to grow with its master.
’So like an actual ability? Will it get stronger as I get stronger? Interesting... though, the relic is above my Knowledge Rank; I wonder if it only works for Class.
[Blessed by Shade]- A warrior of the night, one blessed by the moon itself with all its glory. This ability makes the user faster during the night, as well as sharpen his instincts.
’Again?’ How many abilities like this was he going to see? I mean, sure, it was nice, but wasn’t it too much? It did make him want to see just how fast he was in the night, in full darkness, but still, if he was only fast, he wouldn’t win any fight; he also needed something to make him stronger, not only faster.
[Light of the Moon]- The night is known to hide many; it’s a place where people can hide and lurk in without anyone knowing... outside the chosen. This ability allows you to faintly see the movements of others in the darkness in that very same night.
’A tracking ability? It seemed a bit complicated, but it sure looked helpful... though it still didn’t make him stronger...
[Rest Under the Moon’s shade]-The one blessed by the moon shall not die when met by its shade; a great warrior is meant to survive. This ability allows the user to slowly heal outside of battle in the night.
Another ability that only worked during the night? Sure, he definitely wouldn’t want to face himself during the night and inside darkness, but still, in the daytime he was pretty weak, and this didn’t help with anything in any way.
A healing ability, even if it was just from himself and only worked outside of combat, was very helpful. Sure, he first had to actually survive the fight, but it would help him survive the outcome, and maybe even train with Erosion a bit.
Still... the pin looked to be a very helpful relic on paper, though in practice he was going to have to see.
But for now... he wanted to rest; it had been a while since he had last slept.
Plus... tomorrow was a bit one.
His Academy life was starting.
