Madara's gaze swept across the battlefield, finally settling on the direction Danzo had fled.
He held it tightly in his hand, the bottle containing the Sharingan particularly conspicuous.
His figure vanished instantly, and when he reappeared, he was already blocking Danzo's way!
Danzo's one eye suddenly contracted; he hadn't expected Madara to be so fast!
"Uchiha Madara...!"
Without saying a word, Madara reached out and grabbed Danzo by the neck.
Recalling the ways those "tools" had died, Danzo knew that the Jinchuriki in front of him could easily crush his neck.
There was no time to think, so he quickly released the Wood Release ninjutsu.
Numerous trees grew from beneath their feet, forcing the spots to retreat.
However, before retreating, Ban dislocated the other person's arm that was gripping the bottle.
"This monster..."
This shocked and enraged Danzo, but he knew he was no match for Madara, so he immediately bit his finger and slammed his hand on the ground!
"Spirit Summoning Technique: Dream Eater!"
A huge plume of smoke erupted, and Madara frowned slightly, taking a step back.
When the smoke cleared, Danzo's figure had vanished without a trace.
"They escaped quickly."
Madara snorted coldly and looked down at the Sharingan in his hand.
The kaleidoscope patterns have faded, but you can still feel the power they contain.
"Hmph, at least I got it back."
At this moment, inside the sealed space, Madara turned around, preparing to show off his achievements to Naruto, but suddenly froze.
Naruto's consciousness had awakened at some point. He stood on the water in the sealed space, his face pale, his eyes trembling as he looked at the tragic scene outside.
Corpses littered the ground, blood stained the earth, and... the Sharingan in Madara's hand, still dripping blood.
"Dad..."
Naruto's voice trembled, and his blue eyes were filled with terror.
He originally wanted to say smugly, "Look, this is the real battle."
But when he saw the fear in Naruto's eyes, the words suddenly caught in his throat.
He opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.
The proud expression froze on his face, replaced by a rare... look of bewilderment.
Unusually, Kurama did not mock him. Instead, he took the initiative to extend his tail and wrap it around Naruto, gradually calming Naruto's fear.
Kurama watched Madara's retreating figure and whispered:
“Hey, old man…you scared him.”
Ban remained silent for a long time, then finally just snorted coldly and turned to walk into the depths.
"Kids are such a hassle."
But his voice was much lower than usual.
Chapter 12 Nighttime Conversation
Inside the sealed space, the water surface lost its usual ripples, becoming as still as a stagnant pool.
Naruto sat on the water with his knees drawn up to his chest, his golden bangs hanging down and covering his eyes, his whole body curled up into a small ball.
The Nine-Tails exhaled a puff of hot air from its nostrils and gently poked Naruto's back with the tip of its tail: "Hey, brat, stop playing dead."
Naruto didn't react; he just buried his face even deeper.
Ban's spirit stood not far away, his brows furrowed.
He had never seen Naruto like this before—the usually noisy and energetic brat was now as quiet as an empty shell.
"Listen, Naruto." Madara tried to lower his voice, but it still carried a harsh, commanding tone. "On the battlefield, it's either you or me, those Root ninjas—"
"I know!" Naruto suddenly looked up, his blue eyes brimming with tears. "I know Dad did it for me..."
As he spoke, Naruto's voice choked with emotion, "But just now... I could feel the sound of bones breaking..."
Ban's expression froze.
He opened his mouth, but found that all the usual sarcasm and reprimands were stuck in his throat.
The Nine-Tails' tail silently wrapped around Naruto's trembling back, gently resting on his hunched back: "Hmph... Humans are such a hassle."
Although it said that, the tip of its tail gently patted Naruto's back, as if comforting a frightened cub.
Ban felt inexplicably irritated as he watched this scene.
He strode over to Naruto, squatted down, and awkwardly reached out his hand, but froze in mid-air just before touching Naruto's hair.
In the end, that hand simply pressed heavily on Naruto's shoulder.
"...This is how it always happens the first time someone kills."
Madara's voice was so low it was almost inaudible. "When I was seven, I slit the throat of a Senju clansman with a kunai, and he vomited for a whole day."
Kurama's ears perked up: "Huh? Madara Uchiha would say something like that?"
Naruto looked up, tears still clinging to his eyelashes: "...Really?"
"Shut up, you beast." Madara glared at Kurama with displeasure.
Then he looked at Naruto: "But remember, only the survivors have the right to suffer. If you were the one who died today, those guys wouldn't shed a single tear for you."
Nine-Tailed Fox covered its mouth with its claws and mimicked in a sarcastic tone: "'Only those who survive have the right to suffer' ~ Old man, why are you talking so nauseatingly now?"
The veins on Ban's forehead bulged: "I think you're itching for a beating because I haven't beaten you up lately, huh?"
Naruto watched them bicker, then suddenly burst out laughing, though his laughter was tinged with tears: "Dad... were you just comforting me?"
Madara abruptly stood up, turned, and left: "What nonsense are you spouting! I just don't want my son, the mighty Uchiha Madara, to be so fragile!"
But his bright red ear tips had already given him away.
Kurama grinned, using its tail to curl Naruto towards it: "Ignore that arrogant old man. Let me tell you a joke—Once upon a time, there was an Uchiha clan leader who clearly cared about his son but always wore a sour face..."
"Nine-tailed!"
Madara's roar, Naruto's laughter, and Kurama's unrestrained teasing echoed within the sealed space.
Ripples finally spread across the water's surface.
Meanwhile, in the real world, Madara had no choice but to continue controlling Naruto's body in order to prevent Root from pursuing him.
Naruto, with his small body, was seen carrying an adult as he quickly traversed the depths of the dense forest.
Nine-Tailed Fox flicked its tail: "Hey, old man, where are you planning to take this kid?"
Ban snorted coldly: "If you say 'old man' again, I'll beat you up right now."
Naruto sat on the water's surface and asked softly, "Dad... is that person alright?"
Ban didn't answer, but his pace quickened unconsciously.
Soon, Ban found a small wooden hut used by hunters to rest.
Ban kicked open the rickety wooden door, and dust fell in a flurry.
He placed Shisui on a simple straw mat, his movements far from gentle, but avoiding any fatal wounds.
"Troublesome brat."
Ban muttered to himself, tore off his clothes to use as gauze, and gathered some herbs to simply treat Zhishui's wound.
Although Madara was better at crippling people than saving them, his survival experience in the Warring States period allowed him to master the most basic first aid techniques.
Half an hour later, Zhishui's eyelashes trembled a few times, and she suddenly coughed violently.
In a daze, Shisui's left hand instinctively reached for his ninja tool pouch, only to grasp at empty air—
"Don't move." A childish yet cold voice came from beside me. "I've put your weapon away."
Shisui suddenly opened his remaining left eye wide. In his blurry vision, a blond child was sitting by a fire, the firelight flickering in his scarlet Sharingan eyes.
"The Nine-Tails Jinchuriki?!" He instinctively recoiled, but the movement aggravated his wounds, causing him to gasp in pain. "Why do you have the Sharingan?"
Madara leisurely tossed a kunai around: "That's a question I should be asking you—how did an Uchiha genius end up having his eyes gouged out by Danzo?"
Shisui's pupils suddenly contracted: "You know Danzo? Wait..."
He suddenly touched his right eye, which was wrapped in bandages, only to find it empty. "My eye..."
“We got it back.” Ban casually tossed over a glass bottle, inside which floated a scarlet eyeball.
"Although I don't understand why we have to go through all this trouble."
Shisui caught the bottle with trembling hands, and his Mangekyou Sharingan slowly rotated in the culture medium.
His expression shifted from shock to confusion, and finally to complex gratitude: "Why...why did you save me?"
Ban stood up, walked to the window, and turned his back to him: "Just passing by."
Kurama watched Madara's pretentious act unfold, and couldn't help but roll its eyes: "Such a show-off."
Naruto's eyes lit up: "Dad's so handsome! I want to be like that too!"
After a moment of silence, Shisui took a deep breath: "Anyway, thank you. I am Uchiha Shisui."
Madara turned around and asked, "There was once a person in the Uchiha clan named Uchiha Kagami. You look a lot like him. What was he to you?"
Zhi Shui was startled: "You know my grandfather?"
My grandfather was a figure from the time of the First Hokage, and he was part of the Second Hokage's guard unit.
The person residing in the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki actually knows his grandfather, so this person must have been born in the Sengoku period at the very least.
Ban chuckled at this, "Grandpa... you two really are alike, both in appearance and personality."
