Chapter 3 The Hymn of Humanity is the Hymn of Courage
Chu Sheng looked up at the astonished manticore and forced an awkward smile.
"Danger...Danger! Run!"
From the dust and smoke behind them came the knight's weak and anxious cries.
Chu Sheng stopped Ella, who was rushing over, with a look, took a deep breath, and tried to leave behind a majestic silhouette.
Unfortunately, my legs were shaking so badly that I couldn't control them.
"I'll help you!"
Just then, a furious shout, as loud as thunder, resounded throughout the entire venue.
Everyone looked over in a panic, only to see Aunt Lam kick the door open, her face contorted with rage and solemnity, holding a frying pan as she strode out!
Like a demon lord descended from heaven, he is truly a god of war on earth!
Could it be!
The villagers peered through the cracks in the windows and held their breath.
Aunt Ram stopped twisting her waist and sticking out her buttocks, and with her aura fully unleashed, she walked step by step toward the manticore.
Could she be?!
"Bang!"
Aunt Ram was knocked away.
The manticore slowly retracted its tail, surveyed the rows of tightly closed huts, and seemed to be mocking the cowardice of the crowd.
"I'll do it!"
Just when all hope seemed lost, a bald man suddenly sprang out of the bushes! He grabbed a wood-chopping axe and strode towards them with the ferocity of a tiger descending a mountain!
Upon closer inspection, everyone recognized him as the village chief's son, Uk.
This young man is usually quiet and reserved; could he be a hidden master?
In the blink of an eye, before Uk could run five steps, he tripped over his own feet and stumbled to the ground.
The axe flew out of his hand, spun three and a half times in the air, and landed squarely in front of the manticore.
With a loud "bang," it was as if I was giving this beast an early New Year's greeting.
The village fell completely silent; even the chickens stopped crowing.
If the manticore could laugh, it would be laughing by now. Instead of attacking, it circled Chu Sheng with great interest.
Chu Sheng, imitating Zack's version of Superman's father, stretched out his left hand to the villagers in the house, spread his five fingers, and slowly shook his head.
If you're going to die, at least die in style.
However, his right hand was not behaving properly, and it stealthily reached for the heavy sword.
The first thing you notice when you touch it is that it's ice cold.
Then there's the rough, frosted feel, which comes from the linen wrapped around the hilt of the sword.
Chu Sheng's gaze was fixed on the manticore's massive head, and his body slowly turned with its gait.
He glanced out of the corner of his eye at the dissipating dust. The knight lady was slumped against the stone wall of the windmill, her armor shattered, and blood could be seen flowing from the corner of her mouth through her disheveled hair.
And those azure blue eyes.
Those eyes were filled with self-blame and regret, but even more so with apology.
Without further hesitation, Chu Sheng suddenly exerted force with his right arm, and several blue veins even appeared on his thin arm.
"rise!"
Chu Sheng gritted his teeth and growled.
How could the God of Wood, Gara, die here!
To kill me, you have to be at least a beautiful young girl, no, a beautiful young woman will do too!
To everyone's astonishment, Chu Sheng actually lifted the heavy sword a little bit, and hope reappeared in the knight's eyes.
"Bang!"
A slight clanging sound of metal against metal rang out, and Chu Sheng felt as if all his strength had been instantly drained away, leaving him limp and collapsed.
The manticore's tail merely pressed down lightly on the heavy sword, watching Chu Sheng with amusement.
It was toying with Chu Sheng.
The villagers who had been watching finally couldn't hold back any longer. They roared and rushed out of the house, grabbing their weapons and swarming forward!
"Go!"
"Kill this damn monster!"
"Rescue Xiao Chu and the Knight!"
"We humans aren't to be trifled with either!"
The manticore, seeing the horde of weak creatures surging towards it, felt a surge of anger for no apparent reason.
Why should I?!
Why aren't you afraid of me?!
What makes you so brave!
It roared angrily, its steel-whip-like tail tearing through the air as it lashed down at the knight lady embedded in the windmill!
Yes, despite its anger, it has remained rational until now, knowing that it must first kill the powerful creature to eliminate the threat!
The villagers watched helplessly as the scorpion's tail traced a black arc like the Grim Reaper's scythe, letting out a furious roar of defiance.
"Chu Sheng! No!"
The girl's sobs rang out, and Ella, who had been crawling forward silently, couldn't stop her tears from flowing. She stood up and stumbled towards the windmill.
Only then did everyone realize that Chu Sheng, who had been lying down, was now standing in front of the knight lady, dragging the heavy sword with difficulty with both hands!
Chu Sheng looked up at the manticore, and on a whim, suddenly made a face.
"I won, hee hee hee... Ah!!!"
With a cry of pain, the manticore's tail lashed out at him, and Chu Sheng felt as if every bone in his body had shattered.
His internal organs might be shattered, but he didn't know that; he'd never been hit by a major stroke of luck before.
His consciousness was hazy, but he still gripped the heavy sword tightly in his hand.
What is it that makes me unable to let go?
Perhaps it was courage, Chu Sheng thought.
"boom!"
A second person was embedded in the stone wall of the windmill.
Chu Sheng was nestled next to the Knight Lady, like a row of paper-cut dolls pasted on a window during the Lunar New Year, which was very festive.
"Next time... don't... leave your sword... at home..."
Chu Sheng struggled to lift his head and complained, then his body went limp and he fell silent.
The heavy sword clattered down in front of the knight lady.
The knight had no time to grieve; she used the last of her life force to grip the hilt of the sword.
The world changed color once again.
"I, Arthur Brunhilde Beowulf, who was, who is, and who will be, Lord of the stars, with the blood of Brunhilde and the soul of Beowulf, descend upon me the Triple Crown."
The stars are the rhythm of my breath, the Milky Way is the path of my blood, and the sun and moon are the vessel of my soul; when the abyss opens its mouth, our ancestors will surely raise fire in the rift; when the serpent of lies coils, the sword of holy words will surely sever the poisonous message.
Grant me the scales of justice in my right hand and the ears of wheat of mercy in my left. Until all nations crumble to dust and all stars are extinguished like embers, I will still walk in the folds of light of the universe!
With each obscure and difficult-to-understand phrase in ancient continental language she uttered, her aura rose by one point.
By the time she finished reciting the prayer, her aura had become stronger than ever before, and the holy light surrounding her was so intense that the villagers couldn't even open their eyes.
The manticore trembled.
It felt an emotion it had never experienced since birth.
fear.
It sensed two gazes directed at it from high above, gazes that seemed to transcend dimensions and space.
There is no emotion, only indifference.
It wanted to run, but it couldn't move at all; its limbs seemed rooted to the spot.
Because it lacks courage.
Arthur stood up, holding the heavy sword in both hands, dragging the blade across the ground, drawing a path paved with holy light.
With each step Arthur took, the surrounding world resonated with a booming sound, and the pressure on the manticore increased.
"boom!"
The manticore collapsed to its knees, its massive head drooping, trembling all it could do.
As Arthur approached directly in front of it, her aura reached its peak. She raised her greatsword high and slowly slashed down at the manticore!
"Behold, my holy sword!"
A beam of light instantly pierced through the village, stretching from the manticore's body into the depths of the dense forest. The holy light within this beam was so pure that even the surrounding air almost solidified!
The manticore offered no resistance and was easily cleaved in two by the band of light, leaving a smooth, flat cut.
Like the fish that gets chopped in two by the fishmonger at RT-Mart.
"Damn, that's handsome."
Chu Sheng, who had been pretending to be dead, finally closed his eyes in satisfaction.
In a daze, he heard many anxious and sorrowful cries. There were Ella's, Miss Knight's, Aunt Ram's, and every villager in Windmill Village.
They were all calling his name, even though it sounded a bit like they were cursing.
But this time he was really dead.
But dying with everyone's warmth in one's heart doesn't seem so bad.
In endless darkness.
"Failed to complete level 2! Seeing GG grants you one chance to revive!"
Blanch!
