Chapter 13 Complete the Secondary Path
Chapter 13 Complete the Secondary Path
After exchanging pleasantries in Altair's room, Vivian left alone, promising to pick her up in the afternoon.
Altair went downstairs by himself to have breakfast.
Because of an extra potion to take this morning, Altair didn't go downstairs for breakfast until almost nine o'clock in the morning.
Hahn has gone out to the Servants' Guild, where he has hired housekeepers and some maids.
The reason is that "Madam Anna" has needed to talk to Hahn about everything since she became Altair's teacher.
So the flaw was discovered: there was no female butler, not many maids, not even personal maids; even dressing was something the count had to do himself.
As a etiquette teacher, Mrs. Anna was strict and always took "rules" as the highest standard in her daily life. This incident made her "break down" instantly, and she scolded "Hahn" mercilessly. Even old Clayton was scolded as well.
This made old Clayton's face fall to the ground. He never expected that at nearly 70 years old, he would encounter the biggest Waterloo of his life, being criticized by someone else, and by an "outsider."
Altair hadn't seen his butler since that afternoon. Three days later, when they met again, the butler apologized, saying it was his mistake...
Altair, who was in the know, explained the situation to old Clayton and Mrs. Anna, taking all the blame upon himself.
Poor Hahn, he never expected that he would be "beaten up" by his own father at the age of 40. He originally wanted to hire a housekeeper and maid in Tingen, but Altair refused on the grounds that he would need to find them again when he returned to Backlund.
So the first thing I did after returning was to go to the Servants' Guild. I went to interview people early this morning. Only after passing Hahn's test will Altair make the selection.
They didn't return until almost noon, saying they would have to wait longer because none of the people the domestic workers' association had introduced that morning were suitable.
After lunch, Hahn led the way into the Sheffield family treasury.
Altair knew where the treasure trove in his house was, of course, but he was about to enter the 'real treasure trove'.
Old Sheffield left in a hurry and didn't have time to tell Altair, so Hahn had to lead the way.
Looking at the layers of spiritual walls around him, Altair asked, "Is this the treasure trove of extraordinary materials for the 'Sheffield House'?"
Hahn replied, "Not all of them. These are all low-sequence materials, the highest known to be Sequence 6. Some unknown materials are distinguished by their spirituality; those with low spirituality are placed here, and those with excessively high spirituality are placed in the core treasury."
"The innermost part is the Sheffield family's 'core treasure vault,' but I don't know what's inside."
"What you just entered is the first gate, which can only be opened with a special key. The innermost door has a special formation that only you can open. The method is that you yourself truly want to open it."
Following Hahn's guidance, Altair also looked at the door and casually remarked, "Why is it depicted as the Crimson Moon of the 'Goddess of the Night'?"
Hearing Altair's words, Hahn smiled and said, "Because the 'Crimson Moon' has more advantages in sealing and suppression, although the heads of the family have rarely worshipped the 'Goddess of Night,' the church has no reason to help, but it can provide financial assistance."
"Although it requires maintenance every year and involves donating a lot of gold pounds to the Church of the Goddess of Night, it is well worth the money."
Upon hearing Hahn's answer, Altair thought to himself, "Could this be the 'Charnis Gate'? No, it shouldn't be. That gate requires people's faith as energy to suppress it."
As for her own family, they clearly don't believe in her and have no source of power to suppress her; it must be something similar.
Without further thought, Altair asked directly, "Hahn, do you have an inventory list? I need to retrieve some materials."
Hahn opened a cabinet to the side, took out a thick book, and handed it to Altair, saying, "This is information I compiled two months ago. You can take a look. If there are any materials you need, I can help you open the spiritual wall."
After flipping through a couple of pages, Altair found some of the materials he needed and said, "No need, I just need to get some simple materials to prepare for my occult course."
"By the way, Hahn, go arrange a carriage now, I need to go out this afternoon."
......
After watching Hahn leave, Altair began looking for the materials he needed.
The audience, pharmacists, and notifiers do not possess readily available extraordinary traits, making these three pathways quite unique. Essentially, there are no wild extraordinary individuals among these three pathways.
Audience:
Main ingredients: a pair of adult mandarin fish eyes, 35 ml of ram-horned blackfish blood
Additional ingredients: 80 ml purified water + 5 drops of colchicine extract, 13 g of purslane powder, 7 petals of fairy flower
Pharmacist:
Main ingredients: Horn of an adult Pegasus, 3 grams of venom crystals from a crown jellyfish
Additional materials: 100 ml of blood from an adult Pegasus, 7 tentacles from a crown jellyfish, 10 g of arsenic powder, rhizome of black hyacinth...
.......
After finding the materials he needed by following the numbers recorded in the ledger, Altair also used a silver dagger to open the wall of spirituality.
He took out the materials, packed them up, and went back to his bedroom to prepare a potion for himself.
Strictly following the recipe, after completing the potion, I looked at the three potions in front of me and saw that they looked exactly like the recipe description. I randomly chose one and drank it.
It tastes good, like the strawberry-flavored potion that viewers can enjoy.
The potions from the Generalist pathway are like sparkling water.
Uh! All the potions from the Apothecary path are bitter!
The "audience approach" brings observational skills and micro-expression analysis capabilities.
The Notifier pathway brings the ability to produce aqua regia and mechanical devices.
The two pathways, with some of their abilities merging, gave Altair enhanced memory and learning abilities.
The Pharmacist Path grants the ability to prepare medicines and a special health 'vision'.
It seems there's no need to worry about having to attend so many classes in the future. With this memory ability, as Russell famously said, even if I traveled back in time, I could easily become a provincial champion with this ability.
I am now considered well-rounded, with observational skills, the ability to manufacture machinery and potions, and high offensive capabilities.
However, I probably won't be able to advance anytime soon. It would take at least four months for that potion to be fully used as an "assassin," let alone for an assassin who knows nothing.
Surely no one would actually become an assassin right after drinking a potion.
......
Da da da
Altair saw Hahn standing in the doorway after the door was opened and asked.
"What's wrong, Hahn?"
"We just received many letters from your various professional teachers, such as those specializing in painting, piano, dance, etiquette, fashion, jewelry, history, and more. We need you to review and reply to them all."
Looking at the stack of letters in Hahn's hand, Altair gasped, marveling at how many teachers he had!
After receiving the letter, Altair said immediately, "Let me read the contents first, then I'll write a reply. Aren't you going out later?"
"I need to go to the Servants' Association for an interview at 3 pm today."
While Hahn was still speaking, out of curiosity, she used her "spiritual vision" to see that the "purple" on Hahn's head was fading, and then said directly, "Hahn, don't be too anxious, remember to get some rest."
