Chapter 1004: Course Selection
Chapter 1004: Course Selection
The course selection system officially opened at 10:00 AM.
The four students opened their laptops and logged into the course selection system, choosing the courses they wanted to take.
"Damn, how did I fill up on the College English Level A so quickly?" Lin Weiwei said with a look of frustration.
After glancing at Lin Weiwei's computer screen, Chen Yue advised her, "Then just choose something else. You didn't get an A in the placement test anyway."
"What a pity, an A grade is worth more credits!" Lin Weiwei shook her head regretfully, but her hands didn't slow down at all. She opted for a B grade in College English as a second choice.
Tang Ruixuan had already selected the courses she wanted to take before the course selection system opened, so as soon as the system opened, she immediately completed all the courses she wanted to take, making her the fastest among the four.
Seeing Zhou Xiaoyu's conflicted expression, she guessed that her roommate might have a slight case of decision-making difficulties.
"Xiaoyu, have you made your choice? Do you need any help?"
Zhou Xiaoyu quickly replied, "I'll take another look."
Of the four, Zhou Xiaoyu didn't manage to select her classes until 11:30 PM. She was exhausted!
The four of them then agreed to have lunch together at the cafeteria.
On the way, I ran into Tong Hua again. He was walking with a few boys.
Upon seeing Tang Ruixuan, his eyes lit up, and he jogged over: "Have you all chosen your classes?"
Tang Ruixuan nodded slightly: "I've made my choice!"
"That's good. By the way, you'll be starting military training next week, which will last for two weeks. It might be quite tough. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me."
Before Tang Ruixuan could respond, Lin Weiwei preemptively expressed her gratitude: "Thank you, senior!"
"Hehe, no need to thank me." Tong Hua smiled, but her eyes unconsciously drifted towards Tang Ruixuan again.
At the end of August, the summer heat was still lingering at Jinling University. Under such sweltering weather, two weeks of military training was definitely a huge test for these freshmen. Fortunately, everyone persevered.
Tang Ruixuan and her fellow freshmen began their formal university life.
"Xuanxuan, the National Day holiday is coming soon, how are you going to go back?" Lin Weiwei asked Tang Ruixuan as soon as she returned to her dormitory.
The other three people in the dorm were just discussing whether or not to go home for the holidays. Zhou Xiaoyu, of course, was no exception; she was a local and would definitely go home for the holidays.
Chen Yue's home is in Hebei, so she doesn't want to go home and plans to use the seven-day holiday to travel.
Lin Weiwei naturally wanted to go home as well. After all, Suzhou wasn't far away, and having experienced life alone for the first time away from home, her curiosity had worn off, and she was starting to miss home.
So when she met Tang Ruixuan, she took the initiative to ask her about it. She thought that since both of them lived on the Shanghai-Nanjing railway line, they could buy tickets together and travel together, and keep each other company on the way.
Tang Ruixuan's uncle, Huang Xiaochuan, had called a few days ago, saying that he was going to Nanjing on a business trip before National Day and would take Tang Ruixuan home after he finished, telling her not to buy tickets.
Tang Ruixuan told Lin Weiwei the truth: "My uncle is coming here on a business trip in a few days. After he finishes his business, I will go back with him."
Lin Weiwei felt very sorry: "Oh, I was thinking that we could take the train back together and talk on the way. Now I have to go alone."
Chen Yue suddenly patted Lin Weiwei: "Are you out of touch? Lin Lin from 307 is also from Shanghai. Why don't you talk to her and go together?"
"Oh right! How could I forget about her?" Lin Weiwei's eyes lit up, and she immediately ran to 307 to discuss it with Lin Lin.
After Lin Weiwei left, Chen Yue plopped down in her chair and casually asked, "Xuanxuan, what does your uncle do?"
Tang Ruixuan didn't know how to describe her uncle for a moment. After a slight pause, she said to Chen Yue again, "He does a small business and often has to travel around."
"That business must be huge, right?" Chen Yue asked, determined to get to the bottom of things.
"I already said it's a small business," Tang Ruixuan said with a laugh, no longer wanting to discuss the topic with Chen Yue.
She turned to Zhou Xiaoyu and asked, "Xiaoyu, I'm planning to buy a few ducks to take home for my family to try. You must know which restaurant makes good duck, could you recommend one?"
"Okay!" Zhou Xiaoyu readily agreed to her roommate's request.
Two days later, Tang Ruixuan changed into a light blue dress and went to the vicinity of the school gate alone.
Her uncle was coming and would arrange a car to pick her up for dinner, so Tang Ruixuan planned to go to the school gate early to wait.
Unexpectedly, the car sent by her uncle arrived before her. As soon as she stepped out of the school gate, she saw a black Cadillac Escalade with a Shanghai license plate parked on the side of the road. Uncle Gao Song, her uncle's right-hand man, got out of the car.
"Xuanxuan!" Gao Song waved and greeted Tang Ruixuan.
"Uncle Gao!" Tang Ruixuan responded with a smile.
After Tang Ruixuan got into the car, Gao Song said to her, "Your uncle is in a meeting right now. He asked me to take you directly to the restaurant where we're having dinner tonight, and he'll go there himself later."
After Tang Ruixuan got into the car, Gao Song said to her, "Your uncle is in a meeting right now. He asked me to take you directly to the restaurant where we're having dinner tonight, and he'll go there himself later."
Tang Ruixuan nodded to indicate that she understood.
Tang Ruixuan knew from a young age that her uncle was a very busy man, so she never felt that there was anything wrong with any of his arrangements.
The place where the uncle and nephew are having dinner tonight is located in a villa from the Republican era. It is said that this private restaurant has received two Michelin stars for five consecutive years.
Coincidentally, just as Tang Ruixuan got out of the car, her uncle's car arrived.
"Uncle!" Tang Ruixuan greeted her uncle warmly as soon as she saw him.
Huang Xiaochuan was also very happy to see his niece: "You came quite quickly!"
Tang Ruixuan affectionately took her uncle's arm and asked him, "Uncle, have you missed me?"
"I miss you, my foot!" Huang Xiaochuan would of course not admit it.
Seeing his niece's face about to fall, Huang Xiaochuan quickly tried to salvage the situation: "Alright, alright, I've been thinking about it so much, okay!"
"Hahaha!" Tang Ruixuan laughed happily, and tightened her grip on her uncle's arm.
Huang Xiaochuan carefully examined his niece and, seeing that she hadn't gotten a tan, nodded: "Looks pretty good. She didn't call back to complain about military training."
Tang Ruixuan replied truthfully, "It only took two weeks, and I got through it easily."
Huang Xiaochuan laughed and said, "Your mother must have called you a lot, right?"
"I get at least five phone calls a day. If I don't call her to say hello before I go to bed, I won't be able to sleep at all. She'll definitely call and scold me for being unfilial."
Huang Xiaochuan gently patted his niece's head: "A mother worries about her child even when he travels a thousand miles. Your mother is just concerned about you. Remember this: the best people in this world for you are your parents!"
"I know! But you've forgotten a few people. You, my aunt, and my grandparents are all good to me too!" Tang Ruixuan was raised by her uncle Huang Xiaochuan since she was little, so besides her parents, he was the closest person to her.
During the meal, Huang Xiaochuan inquired in detail about his niece's campus life, especially her relationship with her roommates.
Tang Ruixuan told her uncle everything that had happened during this time. It wasn't that she didn't like to talk, but that she only confided in her closest relatives.
Tang Ruixuan really enjoyed the dessert tonight, so Huang Xiaochuan immediately had someone pack a few portions for her to take back to the dorm and share with her roommates. After all, Huang Xiaochuan had been through the same thing, and good social skills involve sharing.
