Chapter 83 The Angry Brigade
Chapter 83 The Angry Brigade
The Ailiji people actually value agreements very much and have a strong sense of contract.
Eligi suddenly looked up, glanced at Hisoka beside him, and said calmly, "Hisoka, you didn't reveal our location to the Phantom Troupe, did you?"
"Hehehehe—"
Hisoka chuckled softly, his fingertips lightly touching the corner of his lips. His smile was so natural and flawless, yet a hint of cunning flashed in his eyes. "How could that be? We are allies fighting side by side right now."
That's half true and half false.
Hisoka neither proactively sent a message revealing the hideout of Erigi and his group, but he also deliberately concealed the potential danger from Kurapika—the Phantom Troupe members had most likely already approached by following the trail.
Hisoka simply let the situation escalate, observing the impending chaos.
As soon as Hisoka finished speaking, Aji staggered back, his shoulder still stained with undried blood, and his torn shirt revealing a gruesome wound, clearly indicating that he had been ambushed.
Aji knelt on one knee, his voice filled with remorse: "My lord, while I was handling the body, I was ambushed by a man without eyebrows, and he took the body. It was my incompetence; I beg you to punish me."
"It's good that everyone's alright." Eligi's tone remained calm, as if he didn't care at all about the body being taken. "It seems the Phantom Troupe really did follow us. We killed their comrade; these lunatics are probably going to completely lose control."
After saying that, Eligi looked up and glanced at Hisoka again.
Hisoka, however, tilted his head in feigned ignorance, wearing his usual irritatingly innocent expression, as if he knew nothing about the Phantom Troupe's pursuit and completely absolved himself of any responsibility.
Kurapika's heart sank instantly. Upon learning that the Phantom Troupe was approaching, he clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white, and suppressed anger surged in his eyes.
But Kurapika forced himself to calm down and looked at Eriji, asking, "Eriji, what do you plan to do?"
"What else can we do? We'll just use the gang's influence to block them."
A smile played on Eric's lips as he said confidently, "This is gang territory, and besides, there's a major auction tonight. All sorts of experts will be gathered there, so they won't dare to act recklessly in public."
"Let's leave first. The troupe members will probably be here soon. Let's wait for the gangsters to wear them down before we go in."
After saying that, Aliji led his group away.
Seeing this, Kurapika prepared to follow, but then his phone rang. He glanced at the number; it was Melody. When he answered, Melody's voice urged him to come back quickly.
Kurapika pondered for a moment, then finally replied, "I understand, I'll be right back."
Kurapika ultimately chose to return to his post as a bodyguard for the Nothra family.
Since Hisoka happened to be free at the time, he chose to follow Eligi and his group, and couldn't help but release an evil aura to provoke them from behind.
Eriji felt a chilly wind blowing from behind him and was somewhat speechless. In the end, he could only say to Hisoka, "Hey, if you want to keep up, go ahead."
"Hehehe, I'm so sorry!" Hisoka walked forward without any apology.
And so, the group quickly moved to a new base.
These outposts were prepared in advance, and there were three or four of them in the nearby low-rise buildings.
Sigrún has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since and was Dean of the Department of Fine Art from -. In – she held a research position at Reykjavík Art Museum focusing on the role of women in Icelandic art. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and at Pratt Institute, New York, and holds BA and MA degrees in art history and philosophy from the University of Iceland. Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.
On the other hand, the members of the troupe were indeed furious when they saw Pakunoda's body.
Uvogin, who already harbored resentment towards Eligi and his group, slammed his fist into a nearby wall, causing it to collapse, when he saw Pakunotan's corpse. He shouted loudly, "I told you we should have twisted Eligi's head off a long time ago, but you wouldn't listen. Now look what happened!"
"Uvogin, now is not the time to complain, Captain. Tell me, what should we do now?" Machi appeared extremely calm; death was nothing out of the ordinary for them.
There's nothing to be sad about.
Kuroro's expression was calm, but there was a hint of sadness in his heart, because Pakunoda was one of the original members of the Phantom Troupe.
"Make a scene, put pressure on the gang, find Eligi, and take back the collection." Kuroro's words were brief but powerful.
Upon hearing this, Uvogin clenched his fist and sneered, "It should have been done a long time ago. If you run into that guy Eligi, none of you should make a move. Let me handle him."
Now that the target has been identified, the group members are still very capable of taking action.
Everyone vanished instantly, each going about their own business. Only Chrollo remained, glancing at Pakunoda's corpse before slowly closing her eyes.
He then began to recite the word "sleep".
At seven o'clock, night had already fallen, but Youkexin is a city that never sleeps, still brightly lit by lights at night.
Because the gang had received information that someone might come to launch a sneak attack, they deployed a lot of people at various checkpoints around the building.
Bean, who was in charge of security, also became very busy.
Looking at the dim night, Bean frowned deeply. He didn't know how the news of the sneak attack had leaked out, making the gangster bosses waiting to bid extremely uneasy.
With two hours to go before the official auction, the pressure on Bean was immense.
"Phew! Have all the guests been appeased?" Bean was the leader, so naturally he didn't need to personally handle such matters.
If Bean himself gets involved, doesn't that mean things have gotten serious?
Bean's subordinate wiped the sweat from his brow and said wearily, "We finally managed to calm things down. Hopefully, nothing serious will happen, or the situation might get out of control."
When Bean's men said "don't let anything happen," they were obviously hoping the attackers wouldn't come, otherwise the situation would be really hard to control.
Upon hearing this, Bean stubbed out the embers of his cigarette with his hand and said, "Contact Elligie and his gang, and tell them to come back immediately."
"Bang, bang bang bang, bang bang—"
Just then, a sound like firecrackers rang out around the gang.
At first, there were only a few scattered spots, but later they merged into a large area.
"What happened?" Bean asked.
Soon someone jogged over, looking somewhat nervous, and reported to the leader: "Someone broke into the venue. They ignored warnings and eventually opened fire, but they couldn't take care of the intruders. They might be attackers."
An attacker? What kind of attacker would dare to come in openly through the front door?
"You bastards, they actually dared to come! Everyone, shoot all these intruders dead!" Bean said viciously.
As Bean gave the order, a large number of gang members left the building, while vehicles blocked the roads.
In just a short while, hundreds of gang members had gathered; that many people were enough to fight a small battle.
However, the large number of gang members did not have much of an advantage when facing the attackers.
