Chapter 6 Emergency Mobilization
Chapter 6 Emergency Mobilization
Upon hearing this, Chen Yongren froze completely, utterly stunned.
He Chu snatched the phone from his hand and quickly dialed a number.
"This is my personal cell phone number."
"If you encounter any emergencies in the future, feel free to call me anytime."
"You don't need to pay attention to Huang Zhicheng's excuses anymore. I'll figure out a way to pull you out of that quagmire."
Chen Yongren's face instantly showed a look of shock, and he asked in a trembling voice:
"Will this... will this really work?"
He Chu looked at him, a confident smile on her face, and said:
"You've made the right choice by trusting me!"
That evening, He Chu contacted Yang Jinrong directly and said to him over the phone:
"Ah Ren is in big trouble."
"His superior, Huang Zhicheng, clearly knew that Ah Ren was related to the Ni family by blood, yet he still sent Ah Ren back to the Ni family to infiltrate their home."
"I strongly suspect that this guy is harboring some ulterior motive."
Yang Jinrong on the other end of the phone didn't waste any words and went straight to asking:
"Brother Chu, just tell me, what do you want me to do?"
He Chu immediately gave the order in a deep voice:
"Keep a close eye on Huang Zhicheng, and find out everything about his family background."
"Remember, you must be extremely careful and not give yourself away."
Yang Jinrong immediately smiled and replied:
"Brother Chu, you can rest assured, I will definitely investigate this matter thoroughly."
He Chu smiled and said:
"I've always trusted you to handle things!"
Three months later, Yang Jinrong made a special trip to He Chu's residence and personally handed him a thick stack of investigation materials.
Yang Jinrong's gaze towards He Chu was filled with undisguised admiration and worship.
"Brother Chu, you were absolutely right."
"This Huang Zhicheng is definitely up to something!"
"I kept a close eye on him for a whole month and discovered that he had been secretly contacting people from the Ni family."
He Chu took the materials, looked up and asked:
"Who is it?"
Yang Jinrong's face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, and he said through gritted teeth:
"It's Mary, the wife of Han Chen, a trusted lieutenant of the Ni family!"
He Chu's face instantly showed surprise, and he asked:
"Mary?"
"Why doesn't he go directly to Han Chen when he has something to do, but instead sneaks around to see Han Chen's wife?"
"Could there be some illicit affair between these two?"
Yang Jinrong immediately shook his head and began to explain.
"That's what I thought when I first found out about it."
"But I investigated for a long time and found no evidence at all that the two of them had a secret rendezvous in a hotel room."
"So I changed my approach and started investigating the backgrounds of the three of them."
"And this investigation actually uncovered a huge secret—"
"Huang Zhicheng, Han Chen, and Mary actually came from the same walled village."
"Huang Zhicheng and Han Chen are childhood friends who have been through thick and thin together since they were little."
After listening, He Chu tapped the table lightly with his finger.
"That's interesting!"
Yang Jinrong paused for a moment, then continued:
"When I found this out, a bold guess suddenly popped into my head—and then I followed this line to investigate Han Chen's rise to power over the years, as well as Huang Zhicheng's career path and promotion in the police force."
Upon hearing this, He Chu raised an eyebrow slightly and asked:
"You mean, Han Chen was able to rise through the ranks in the gang because Huang Zhicheng was secretly helping him?"
"Could it be that Han Chen played a part in Huang Zhicheng's rapid rise through the ranks of the police force?"
Yang Jinrong immediately slapped his thigh and said:
"I knew it, you couldn't hide this from me, Brother Chu."
"You're absolutely right. These two people are secretly setting each other up and helping each other achieve success."
"All the evidence and materials are here!"
boom!
He Chu slammed his hand heavily on the table.
"Such lawless bastards!"
Seeing the enraged He Chu, Yang Jinrong hurriedly asked:
"Brother Chu, should we hand this information directly to the police department's internal affairs department?"
He Chu shook his head without even thinking.
"No!"
He paused, then emphasized his words.
"This matter absolutely cannot be handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs!"
Yang Jinrong looked puzzled and asked:
"Wouldn't it be perfect to hand the data over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs?"
"Isn't their job to investigate these kinds of things?"
He Chu looked at him and slowly began to explain:
"We are frontline field officers, and we are inherently at odds with the Ministry of the Interior."
"If you hand over these documents directly to the Internal Affairs Department today, your path to promotion in the police force will be completely blocked."
Yang Jinrong's face instantly showed a look of shock, and he asked in a trembling voice:
"Then... then we're just going to ignore that bastard Huang Zhicheng?"
He Chu spoke firmly and directly:
"Ah Rong, you remember this: the police force has its own rules."
"Even if it's necessary to enforce family discipline and clean house, it has to be done by our own people."
"This matter absolutely cannot be handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs."
"These are the family rules for our frontline police officers."
After listening, Yang Jinrong nodded heavily and solemnly replied:
"Brother Chu, I understand, I've remembered everything!"
He Chu reached out and gently patted Yang Jinrong's shoulder.
"Ah Rong, you're a natural-born intelligence genius. From now on, you should develop your career in the Criminal Intelligence Department."
Yang Jinrong looked surprised and asked:
"Brother Chu, do you really think I'm suited for a career in intelligence?"
He Chu pointed to the investigation materials on the table and said:
"If an ordinary person were to investigate these things, even if they spent a year doing so, they might not be able to do as thoroughly and completely as you have in these three months."
"This is your innate talent and strength."
"The most important thing for a person to establish themselves and do things in society in this life is to learn to play to their strengths and avoid their weaknesses."
After listening, Yang Jinrong smiled brightly and said:
"Brother Chu, just give the orders. Whatever you say, I'll do it."
At this moment, he was completely and utterly captivated by He Chu from the bottom of his heart.
In the year or so since he joined the police force, every word He Chu had said to him and every prediction he had made had come true.
He Chu's extraordinary keen judgment earned Yang Jinrong's utmost admiration.
He Chu changed the subject and asked:
"How are your family members doing lately?"
Yang Jinrong smiled and replied:
"My parents are still in good health, and my older brother, older sister and younger sister are also living a stable and peaceful life."
"It's just that the house is a bit small, and it's a little cramped."
"After all, land in Hong Kong is incredibly valuable, and everyone has gone through this process, so I can make do with what I have."
"After I work for a few more years and gain enough experience, I will be able to apply for police housing."
Upon hearing this, He Chu immediately scoffed, his face full of disdain.
"To apply for police dormitories, you have to get married first; there are so many rules and regulations."
As he spoke, he reached into the drawer and took out a slip of paper.
"I know you've never been one to squander money, so now there's a good place for all the savings you've accumulated."
Yang Jinrong took the note and saw that it contained a stock code.
Next to the code, the precise buy and sell prices are clearly marked.
"Brother Chu, what's this...?"
He Chu shrugged indifferently.
"When I have free time, I like to study stocks."
"He has some talent; he can barely spot a few reliable ones."
He paused, then specifically added,
"Don't show this code to outsiders, and don't mention it to anyone."
Yang Jinrong nodded solemnly and replied:
"Brother Chu, I understand. I will definitely keep my mouth shut."
After listening, He Chu shook his head helplessly and said,
"You didn't understand what I meant at all."
"Truly good things can naturally be shared with family."
"If you come across a reliable and good stock, even if your family doesn't listen to your advice and doesn't dare to invest more, it just means you'll earn a little less, and there's no real loss."
Yang Jinrong's face instantly showed a look of shock, and he asked in a trembling voice:
"Brother Chu, could this stock be...?"
He Chu shrugged indifferently again and said:
"A stock that's about to double in value!"
Yang Jinrong was instantly taken aback and quickly stood up and bowed, saying:
"Thank you so much for your guidance, Brother Chu!"
Most of the speculative stocks on the market are actually junk stocks with no fundamentals.
Even if you're temporarily stuck with ordinary stocks, as long as you hold on to them, there will always be a day when you can break even and recover your losses; it's just a matter of time.
But once you get trapped by unreliable speculative stocks, you'll suffer huge losses and almost certainly end up losing everything.
"I'll tell my stock trader to buy and sell strictly according to the prices you set, Brother Chu."
He Chu nodded slightly upon hearing this.
He looked at Yang Jinrong and solemnly reminded him again.
"Ah Rong, you are my personally chosen right-hand man. You must remember this from now on: you must never make a mistake when it comes to money."
"Work hard with me, and we'll have endless money in the future. There's no need to take this kind of risk."
Yang Jinrong nodded heavily again and solemnly replied:
"Brother Chu, I've remembered everything and I will never make a mistake."
Seeing this, He Chu nodded slightly again.
"You've worked hard these past few days. Go back and get some rest and relax."
Before leaving, Yang Jinrong asked again:
"Brother Chu, do you need my help with the rest?"
He Chu gently shook his head and said:
"I'll handle the rest myself."
"This kind of thing absolutely cannot be done by the two of us—even if we're doing all this to help Ah-Ren get out of this mess!"
His expression turned serious, and he added in a solemn tone,
"If you're not in a position, don't meddle in its affairs; this is a rule we must follow in this line of work."
Yang Jinrong immediately smiled and nodded in agreement:
"Brother Chu, don't worry, I understand."
He Chu escorted Yang Jinrong to the door, watched him leave, and then turned back into the house. After sitting down, he lit a Marlboro.
He leaned back heavily on the sofa, stretching his arms out wide and casually resting them on the back of the sofa.
He Chu considered it carefully for a moment, then reached for the phone on the table:
"Inspector Lu, are you free right now? How about I treat you to a drink?"
"Okay, see you in a bit."
He Chu's police rank is Inspector, while Lu Qichang's is Senior Inspector.
However, the only difference between the two is their police rank; there is no direct superior-subordinate relationship between them.
He Chu is now a rising star in the West Kowloon Headquarters and is also one of Superintendent Chan's most trusted and capable lieutenants.
Therefore, Lu Qichang accepted the invitation on the spot without the slightest hesitation.
So, just half an hour later, Lu Qichang arrived at He Chu's residence as promised.
As soon as Lu Qichang entered, he greeted everyone with a hearty smile:
"Inspector Ho, it's been quite a while since we had a drink together, hasn't it?"
He Chu also greeted them with a smile and said:
"Yeah, we haven't had a drink together since Ah Ren went undercover."
Upon hearing this, Lu Qichang's eyes widened instantly, and he exclaimed in shock:
"What did you say? Ah-Ren went undercover?!"
Seeing this, He Chu deliberately widened his eyes, feigning surprise.
"What?! You didn't know about this?!"
He Chu's face was full of suspicion, his gaze fixed intently on Lu Qichang:
"Inspector Lu, are you really completely unaware of this?"
Lu Qichang's face immediately darkened, and he spoke angrily:
"If I had known about this earlier, how could I have let him go undercover?"
"He is the young police officer I value most and have the highest hopes for in my life."
He suppressed his anger and explained in a gentle tone,
"Officer Ho, please don't get the wrong idea."
"When you were studying at the police academy, you always kept a low profile and remained quiet. There were just too many people in your class who were more outstanding and brilliant than you."
"Like Chen Yongren, Zhuo Kai, Jiang Lang, Xu Fei, and others..."
Upon hearing this, He Chu smiled faintly and said:
"If I hadn't deliberately hidden my talents and abilities back then, I probably would have been chosen and sent out as an undercover agent long ago."
Lu Qichang froze instantly, his face filled with astonishment as he spoke:
"Officer Ho, was your whole act back then just an act?"
He Chu shrugged indifferently.
"What else did you think?"
"When Ah Ren and Ah Kai got into a fight at the police academy, I already sensed something was fishy."
"How could two people who are usually so well-behaved and have such good character suddenly escalate to the point of fighting?!"
"Their friendship in private is as close as that of brothers!"
"I casually asked them a couple of questions, and they couldn't resist and tacitly admitted what was going on."
"After that, Jiang Lang, Xu Fei and a few others left the team one after another, and the reasons they gave were more and more outrageous and simply untenable."
"In this situation, if I don't keep my skills under wraps, who knows if I'll be the next one chosen to go undercover?"
He paused, composed himself, and continued...
"I ran into Ah Ren on the street the other day. He was dressed in a flashy and sleazy way, looking exactly like a street thug."
"His face was bruised and swollen; you could tell he'd suffered a lot of hardship and injustice lately."
Lu Qichang's face instantly filled with disbelief and shock, and he blurted out:
"That's absolutely impossible!"
"Ah Ren was forced to drop out of school because of his family background. If he really wanted to go undercover, he wouldn't have needed to drop out at all, right?"
