Chapter 646 The Aurors and Death Eaters of Hogsmeade
Divination cards are part of the third-year curriculum in Hogwarts Divination, but they are not a major focus and rarely appear on exams.
The Fate Quill is a possession item, and its appearance is more like a feather duster.
When you're unsure about something and torn between many options, pluck a feather from the quill. Pluck one feather and silently recite an answer; the last feather represents the answer chosen by the quill of destiny.
It's hard to say whether this stuff actually works, but it does use feathers from the magical creature Longtail Chicken, and because it's cheap, the Fate Quill is quite popular in the wizarding world.
Many young wizards from Muggle families buy some to take home to their parents or other relatives before holidays, which can be considered one of the wizards' specialties.
This kind of divination is still quite popular among Muggles.
After spending a huge sum of money, Celen also left Devis-Bans, the biting cold wind slashing at his face like knives.
The streets were rather deserted; no one wanted to stop and chat, and everyone was hurrying along.
Siren didn't go to find Harry and the others; he preferred hot butterbeer to candy.
As soon as he opened the door to the Three Brooms, a warm aroma of liquor and butter wafted out, instantly dispelling the chill that had enveloped him.
The strong flavor of the liquor made him suddenly think that having a glass of fiery whiskey in this kind of weather might not be such a bad choice.
Unfortunately, Ms. Rosemotta of the Three Brooms probably won't sell him whiskey.
Pig Head Bar is okay, but Xilun doesn't like it there. The place always has a faint smell of mutton and some indescribable stench, which makes him lose his appetite.
Entering the store, Xilun ordered a butterbeer and sat down at the table by the window to sip it slowly.
The newly bought crystal ball sat in the middle of the table, its grayish-white smoke slowly swirling in the bar's orange lights.
Siren hesitated, wondering whether to finish his butterbeer and head straight back to school, or wait here for Harry and the others.
Based on his previous experience, Harry and his friends would likely linger in Honeyduke for at least half an hour before heading to their next destination.
Siron glanced out the window, wondering if Harry and the others had come out yet.
He didn't see Harry, but he inadvertently noticed three people sneaking around on the street outside, watching them suspiciously.
He was probably looking at the three brooms—Silen didn't think much of it.
However, at that moment, the smoke inside the crystal ball on the table suddenly began to churn, and the speed increased rapidly.
Then, the mist disappeared. The crystal ball reflected the three wizards that Xilun had just seen.
With their heads down, they strode quickly toward the three brooms, then simultaneously drew their wands and, together with their two accomplices in the bar, attacked the old witch sitting at the bar—oh wait, that person was Tonks!
At the last moment, Tonks realized something was wrong. After narrowly avoiding the most deadly killing curse, he immediately reverted to his original form and launched a counterattack. The three brooms were thrown into chaos, with shattered tables and glasses scattered everywhere.
The screen disappeared.
When Xilun turned his head again, he saw the three wizards outside walking towards him, and they were already at the door of the Three Brooms.
They moved quickly; one of them pushed open the door, and the other two simultaneously took out their wands.
"Avada!"
He collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious!
Having anticipated this, Xiren clearly wouldn't let them continue, and immediately stunned the person who wanted to use the Killing Curse on Tonks.
Tonks, as an Auror, reacted quickly, drawing his wand the instant his opponent was stunned, and simultaneously locking onto the enemy's location.
"Immediately imprison them!"
It was only then that the other people in the bar realized what had happened. Screams echoed throughout the bar as people frantically tried to run outside.
But with the dark wizard standing at the door, they had to retreat and squeeze into what seemed like a safe corner of the bar.
"Good heavens, Merlin's beard, who are you—"
Ms. Rosemotta stared in horror at the people who had suddenly barged in. She wanted to kick them out, but a rising Dark Mark robbed her of all courage, and she screamed as she hid under the bar.
"Rotten and decaying!"
A purple spell flew swiftly towards Xilun, but just before it struck, it was blocked by an invisible barrier and flew back the way it came.
"Beautiful Ironclad Spell, Siron," Tonks said briefly.
At this point, only two of the five dark wizards remained. They tried to escape, but as they turned around, they ran into Mad-Eye Moody who had just arrived.
"You were too careless, Tonks!" Mad-Eye tied up a few Death Eaters with rope and frowned at Tonks.
"You're here on a mission, not to drink and have fun. Do you know that if it weren't for Xiren, you might already be dead!"
"I...I noticed him," Tonks said, but his confidence seemed somewhat lacking.
"Speaking of which, what are you doing here?" Xiren quickly interrupted the increasingly loud Mad-Eyed Man, asking, "And who are they?"
"As you can see, a bunch of new Death Eaters scum," Mad-Eye Moody said irritably. "We're here to protect Harry Potter, and of course, you."
"Protect me and Harry?" Siron blinked. "Because it's Hogsmeade Week?"
“No, we’ve always been in Hogsmeade,” Tonks said, “but today is definitely special.”
Afterwards, Mad-Eye found the trembling Ms. Rosemotta, and the two talked about something.
Tonks, along with the bound Death Eaters, emerged from the Three Broomsticks with Siron.
"You mean, they're after me and Harry?"
"Very likely. If I remember correctly, they arrived at Hogsmeade more than a month ago, when you had just started school."
"Then why did they attack you?" Siren asked.
"I don't know. Maybe they want to deal with this problem of mine first, or maybe the mysterious person has given new orders."
Tonks sighed. "But I still have to thank you, Siron. Because of Regulus, I've been a bit distracted lately. Otherwise, these people wouldn't have been able to see through my disguise."
"It's okay, I understand," Xiren said.
At that moment, the silver hair in his hand suddenly began to tremble.
It was the Death Eater who used the Corruption Curse. He had been struck by his own curse and was now lying on the ground, convulsing, with purple lines spreading across his arms and neck.
His silver mane trembled more violently, and a faint sense of anger emanated from it.
He had been able to sense this emotion ever since Siren refused Silvermane's third attempt to attack Dumbledore.
But can you blame him? He must be crazy to want to attack Dumbledore.
However, one Death Eater is no big deal.
With a powerful flick of his silver mane, a pale blue unicorn appeared, rushing toward the Death Eater at incredible speed and passing right through his body in the blink of an eye.
In a daze, Xilun seemed to hear the sound of glass breaking, then the sound changed, strangely, as if someone had put ice on hot charcoal.
The Death Eater's piercing howl ceased, and it lay stiffly on the ground, its pupils rolled back and its body convulsing, as if it had endured immense pain in an instant.
However, at the same time, the strange purple patterns on his body also completely disappeared.
