Chapter 622 School Opening
For the remainder of summer vacation, the magical world became unusually quiet.
There had been no reports of attacks or Death Eater activity in the newspapers for several days. If it weren't for the occasional reports of Dementors injuring people, Xilun would have thought that things had returned to the time before Voldemort's resurrection.
Of course, this could also be the calm before the storm.
Regardless, on the day summer vacation ended, Siron arrived at King's Cross Station on time, ready to take the train to Hogwarts.
"Honestly, I don't know if letting you continue to go to Hogwarts is the right choice." Lila stood in front of the scarlet Hogwarts Express, her expression complicated. "But since you insist on going back—your father and I respect your choice."
"Thank you, Mom." Celen stepped forward and hugged her.
"Don't rush me, I have a request," Lila said. "Write home at least one letter a week. I don't think that should be too much trouble."
"Of course not," Siren said. "I write at least two letters a week."
"Remember what you said." Lila sighed. "Oh, your friends are here."
Siren turned his head and saw the Weasleys walking in through the partition wall of Platform 9%.
The number of people around him was still the same as when the holiday started, forming an iron barrel that protected Harry in the middle.
Speaking of which, this morning the Ministry of Magic sent several Aurors to Diagon Alley to protect Cyren on his way to the station. Apparently, Scrimgeour had also learned from others that Voldemort had deliberately kidnapped Cyren during last year's Christmas holidays.
But Lila rejected the Aurors' offer, as well as the Order of the Phoenix.
She chose the simplest and most direct method, teleporting with the Celestial Phantom to the platform of King's Cross Station.
Siren didn't know where all the Aurors and Order of the Phoenix in Diagon Alley ended up; they probably all went to Harry's side.
Celen couldn't understand why they insisted on driving instead of Apparating. With so many wizards in the Order of the Phoenix, finding four people who could Apparate with their students shouldn't have been difficult.
Or do they prefer this traditional method?
Just then, Harry and his group finally came in. Including the Weasleys and the Aurors who came to see them off, nearly twenty people appeared on the platform in a grand procession.
"Hey, we're here, Siron!"
Harry clearly saw him too and immediately ran over.
Siren noticed an Auror grabbing Harry's arm with a grim expression, seemingly trying to stop him from this risky behavior.
"Thanks, but I think I can tell what's dangerous," Harry said irritably, pulling his arm away from the Auror's grasp.
"Oh, right, here you go." While Harry was dealing with that Auror, Lila put a crumpled bag into Siron's pocket.
That was his shapeshifting lizard skin bag. Lila took it last night and hasn't returned it since.
Xilun was just hesitating about how to bring it up with her. He had a lot of stuff, and it was really inconvenient without the deformable lizard skin bag.
Xilun took out the leather bag and glanced at it; its appearance was unchanged from before.
"We put something in there," Lila said with a complicated expression.
"It's dangerous." Galian glanced at the Auror not far away and said in a low voice, "You'd better not take it out until you're in real danger."
"Don't use it on your classmates either, no matter how much you hate them," Lila reminded her.
She knew that she was referring to Draco Malfoy.
"Don't worry, Mom, I don't need any tools to deal with him."
Lila nodded. She loved herbs and didn't want those beautiful flowers and plants to become a terrible weapon unless absolutely necessary.
"Alright, the train is about to depart." Garian patted Siron on the shoulder.
"By the way, let's look at it again when we get back to school, and find a place where there's no one else around."
"I will," Siron nodded in agreement. Then, together with Harry, who had run over, they walked along the platform, looking for an empty compartment.
This year's mission seems to be going exceptionally smoothly; they found an empty private compartment before they even reached the back of the train.
The group quickly boarded the train and shoved their luggage onto the overhead racks.
"Pfft!" Ron suddenly laughed.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked.
"No, it's nothing." Ron shook his head. "I just thought of Malfoy. It feels like just yesterday I was watching him wriggling on the luggage rack."
Harry laughed when he mentioned it.
That was really interesting, and it would be his best spell of happiness for a long time to come.
"I wonder if Malfoy will be on the train," Harry said, glancing thoughtfully at Siren.
"You can go and look for him," Siren said with a smile. "If he's there, I wouldn't mind keeping my promise again."
"I will," Harry said with a smile.
He and Hermione were prefects, and they were required to go to the prefects' car when the train departed. The male and female student council presidents would assign them the task of patrolling the corridors.
Malfoy was also a prefect; if he were there, he would definitely go to the prefect's car.
After putting away their luggage, the two left, and the train doors slowly closed at that moment.
Hillen looked out the window and saw Mrs. Weasley saying goodbye to Ginny, jogging along the platform to keep up with the train.
Garian was talking to Mr. Weasley. The two didn't seem to know each other before, and they looked a little reserved.
Lila was waving at him.
"Don't forget to write the letter!"
"I know, two letters a week." Xilun waved back until the train turned a corner and the platform was no longer in sight.
"Sirlen, don't you feel like there are fewer people taking the train this year?" Ron asked.
"There are indeed fewer." Xilun nodded.
That's for sure; the Hogwarts Express is notoriously slow and unreliable. For example, a few years ago, the Hogwarts Express encountered Dementors just before arriving at its destination.
What if they encounter Death Eaters again this year? Therefore, many parents with means choose to use Portkeys or Apparition to send their children to Hogsmeade Village, so they can get to school faster.
Lila had initially planned to do the same, but Siren wanted to see if she could run into Draco Malfoy, so she declined.
"I wish I could learn Apparition someday." After hearing what Siron said, Ron said with some envy, "This magic is so useful. When Fred and George first learned it, they even had to use Apparition to go downstairs."
"That's easy," Siron said with a smile. "Hogwarts will offer Apparition in the sixth year, and you can enroll this year."
"That must be very difficult," Ron said worriedly.
"It's not difficult at all, it's very simple," Siren said. "I learned it in just two lessons."
"That's good." Ron breathed a sigh of relief.
