Chapter 42: What Gerald?
Chapter 42: What Gerald?
"She's a Dragon Slayer Mage too? She doesn't even get motion sickness! How can she be a Dragon Slayer Mage? Is this even normal?!"
In the forest on the eastern outskirts of Magnolia, Natsu jumped and shouted.
He had many questions about his two new friends, and his biggest question was why Wendy didn't get motion sickness, since they were both Dragon Slayers.
Natsu gets extremely seasick even when riding in a carriage, while Wendy came back from such a far-away train station without feeling any discomfort. This made Natsu feel extremely unfair.
"So Dragon Slayers get motion sickness?"
After hearing Natsu's complaint, Moen realized that Dragon Slayers had such a weakness. He had never noticed this before, even though he had a Dragon Slayer in his house all along.
'I've never heard Laxus say that. He's just holding it in, isn't he?'
Moen thought to himself that this approach was perfectly in line with Laxus's character; that guy would never expose his weaknesses.
No matter how uncomfortable he felt, he would pretend to be nonchalant.
So much so that even though Laxus had been a Dragon Slayer Mage for several years, the rest of the guild didn't know that Dragon Slayer Mages had this weakness until Natsu arrived.
"I...I don't know either..."
Faced with Natsu's disgruntled expression and his shouting, Wendy answered softly, appearing somewhat timid.
But actually, Natsu didn't have any ill intentions towards her. Natsu was just straightforward and said whatever came to mind.
"Natsu! You bastard! Don't be so rude to a newbie!"
Seeing Wendy's slightly timid appearance, Gray immediately stood up for her and began to confront Natsu.
Standing up for Wendy was just a pretext; Gray's real purpose was to cause trouble for Natsu and fight him!
"You bastard! Want to fight?!"
Sure enough, the two men were about to fight after exchanging only a few words.
The battle is the highlight! Awesome!
"Stop fighting..."
Seeing Natsu and Gray about to fight, Wendy's eyes welled up with tears. She didn't know why, but whenever she saw Natsu's agitated state or him arguing with others, she felt like crying, as if such a scene had happened before.
"Don't mind them, Wendy. That's just how those two are. Let them fight. That's how they get along."
Seeing Wendy trying to mediate the fight but not knowing how, looking anxious and on the verge of tears, Moen smiled and called her over, saying that the child needed time to get used to it.
"Is...is that so, Brother Moen? But, is it really okay for them to be like this?"
Wendy was somewhat doubtful, watching Natsu and Gray already locked in a fierce battle, and she was very worried that they would get hurt.
"Don't be fooled by how exciting their fight looks; they're actually very careful. Didn't you see they didn't even use magic?"
Moen gently patted Wendy's head, comforting the kind girl.
The fight between Natsu and Gray was purely hand-to-hand combat; they exchanged punches and kicks, fighting with incredible intensity, and neither of them used magic.
Both of them understood that playful fighting was fine, but if it went too far, they would get a severe beating, and neither of them wanted to experience Moen's fists.
"That won't work either, Gray, Natsu, you two should get along amicably."
However, unlike Moen, who has a relatively open management style, Erza, who is gradually beginning to show her talent, is much stricter.
Seeing Natsu and Gray locked in a fierce fight, Erza decisively walked over; she was clearly much better at mediating than Wendy.
"Bang! Bang!"
Erza landed two punches, and Natsu and Gray both fell to the ground, their heads bulging as if steam was rising from them. Wendy couldn't help but gape at the sight.
So... this is how you should mediate a fight?
If you knock all the people who are fighting to the ground, they will stop fighting.
Wendy felt that her values had been shaken. She was very bad at mediating disputes, and she would get anxious and want to cry whenever she saw others arguing or fighting. She didn't know why she was like this.
Looking at Erza, who was dressed in armor and looked majestic, Wendy felt a little envious. She wished she could be as powerful as Erza...
"Wendy? Wendy!"
Seeing that Wendy seemed to be completely absorbed, Moen quickly called her name a few times.
"Waaah~ What's wrong, Brother Moen?"
Wendy came to her senses and looked at Moen with a puzzled expression.
"This is a bad example, don't follow it, do you hear me? Don't follow it! Just be yourself, some things can't be forced."
Moen, with a serious expression, was instructing Wendy, who looked like she understood but didn't quite.
Wendy and Erza are completely different personalities and styles. If Wendy tries to imitate Erza, she'll definitely fail. She should forge her own path.
As the leader of the kids, Moen, who always felt like he was playing a raising game, didn't want to see Wendy, who had a cute and adorable style, turn into Erza. It's not that Erza didn't have her cuteness, it's just that Wendy turning into that would be too incongruous.
"Oh, I know."
Wendy nodded blankly, not knowing exactly what she understood.
Mister Gang walked over and smiled silently at the scene. With Moen here, he didn't need to worry about Wendy not being taken care of.
Although Moen was a year younger than him, he was very mature and cared for the children in the guild.
"Geralt..."
Upon seeing Mister Gang, Wendy reflexively called out his real name.
"Shh!"
Moen and Mistgang spoke almost simultaneously, and Wendy, realizing the problem, immediately covered her mouth, her big eyes filled with the panic of having made a mistake.
"Geralt? Wendy...did you just say Geralt?"
Although Wendy's voice wasn't loud and was immediately stopped by Moen and Mystergan, Erza still managed to pick up on the name very quickly.
Erza ignored Natsu and Gray who were being suppressed, and approached them with a suspicious look, her gaze shifting back and forth between Wendy and Mystogan.
"Forehead......"
Wendy covered her mouth, her eyes wide, looking completely bewildered.
At this moment, Wendy really didn't know what to say. She was afraid that she would make more mistakes if she said anything, so she simply continued to cover her mouth.
"Wendy? What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Seeing Wendy's panicked and speechless state, Erza's first reaction was to be concerned about her health, and she did not ask any further questions.
Moen and Mystogan exchanged a quick glance, both seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes. Neither of them had expected that in such a big world, they would actually encounter someone who knew Jellal from this world in the Fairy Tail guild.
On his first day at the guild, Mystergan realized what the problem was.
Erza looked at him with obvious doubt, the kind of doubt that seemed to be seeing someone familiar but was not sure.
