"The POS machine it is, thanks." Xiaobai took out a card from the briefcase given to him by his brother's friend. This was Xiaobai's salary card as an admiral, containing his first month's advance salary.
The driver watched as Xiaobai swiped his card on the POS machine.
Two beeps signaled that the meter in front of the car had received the transfer.
"Little girl, are you human? A navy person looking for a job?" The old man asked, after seeing Xiaobai's card and examining her military uniform.
"Huh? Yes, I'm the admiral of this naval base... I think." Xiaobai was a little flustered by the sudden question.
"Ah, what a pity." The old man shook his head. "Young lady, I think you are pretty and quite likable. Why would someone have to harm you?"
"Eh?"
"This garrison only had one admiral, named Lu Yun. He died a couple of years ago, and there hasn't been a second one." The old man put the POS machine away, lit a cigarette, and took a puff. "We drivers, you know, we've met people from all over the country in this circle. We don't know about confidential matters, but we know the most news and gossip. After Admiral Lu Yun died, more than twenty admirals came one after another. They all said they were there to succeed him."
As he spoke, the old man took another deep drag.
"Wow, they were all so impressive! More than a dozen of them drove all the way here in incredibly expensive cars, surrounded by bodyguards and all sorts of beautiful women. I reckon they were probably ship girls too, and they just walked right into this naval base." The old man paused, as if remembering something, and continued, "Speaking of which, when I first saw you, I thought you were some kind of ship girl. You're so pretty and young, and you even speak in such a sweet, childlike voice, like my granddaughter."
"Later, the longest they stayed was about half a month, and the shortest was only a few minutes. The ship girls from this company cut them off. The worst one seemed to have broken arms and legs. He was put in a cast and stayed in the central hospital for two days before being taken away."
As the old man was talking, he put out his cigarette.
"So, my dear girl, take my advice. This naval base isn't a place for humans. After their first admiral died, these ship girls were left unattended. Fortunately, they still help us keep things in order in the Abyss, so nothing major has happened. But you should still stay out of it." The old man handed Xiaobai a small white slip of paper. "This is my phone number. Give me a call if you want to go back, and I'll give you a 20% discount. It's hard to get a taxi here."
Xiao Bai accepted the note with great emotion.
"I... shouldn't get beaten up that badly... right?"
"That's true, after all, you're a little girl." The old man rolled up the car window, leaving a crack. "But among these twenty-odd admirals, there are a few female admirals, and they didn't all end up well. It seems one of them had her clothes stripped off and hung up to dry in the sun for three days. Luckily, she still had some humanity and knew to feed her and hold an umbrella for her, otherwise, I reckon her life would be as good as her face."
"Hey, that's enough. I see you're pretty resolute, young lady. Let's leave it at that." The old man seemed to realize he couldn't persuade Xiaobai anymore. He didn't notice that Xiaobai's face had turned deathly pale when she heard about taking off her clothes to dry for three days. He gently pressed the accelerator, and the car roared to life. "AE86, let's go!"
After saying that, the old man quickly turned the car around and sped away.
Little White was left alone on the ground.
Wait, Grandpa, I regret it, I want to go home...
However, all Xiaobai could see was the gradually blurring silhouette of a car in the distance.
I...I want to go home!!!
Xiao Bai looked timidly at the office building in the distance.
On the top floor, in what appeared to be the admiral's office, there was a blurry figure. All that could be made was a head of blond hair.
The ship girls have excellent eyesight; they might already be seen by now.
Xiao Bai raised her hand, placed it beside her cheek, and gently waved.
"Hello?"
brush.
The curtains in the admiral's office were suddenly drawn shut.
The new admiral, Xiaobai, felt as if his life was in danger on his very first day in office.
Brother... Little White, can you really be a good admiral...?
At the very least... I don't want to be hung up in the sun...
Xiao Bai covered his head and squatted down.
What should I do? I regretted it instantly! These older women are so scary...
Do naval personnel have insurance? If I get beaten up, would it be considered a workers' compensation?
The young female admiral couldn't help but shiver in the sea breeze.
Da. Da. Da.
Suddenly, a series of light footsteps came from behind Xiaobai.
A heavy, oppressive force swept over them as the footsteps approached.
Like a tiger lurking not far behind, the feeling of danger made Xiaobai's body stiffen instantly, as if it had been put in a cast.
The footsteps stopped behind Xiaobai.
...If someone were to ask Xiaobai what the most memorable thing in her life is, she would probably choose this moment.
Will I... get eaten...?
Xiao Bai thought for a moment, then turned her head shakily and forced a stiff smile, though to others it might look no different from crying.
What Xiaobai saw was a white-haired girl in a black short dress.
She was a very beautiful girl.
Her neat, short white hair was slightly curled, and her delicate features were as exquisite as a Persian cat carefully cared for in a wealthy family.
But those large, blood-red eyes were always filled with a cold indifference.
It was a kind of coldness that seemed natural, and also a kind of suppression that seemed to come from a superior position based on bloodline.
Even a very soft dress looks serious and formal on this woman, like a military uniform.
Xiaobai had seen information about this ship girl in a folder given to her by her brother's friend.
The German battleship, Bismarck.
It was also one of the brother's wedding ships.
Should I call her sister-in-law?
"Hello... hello..." Xiaobai greeted him timidly.
Bismarck looked at Little White without saying a word.
She stared quietly at Xiaobai's face as if she were looking at something else.
The previous imposing manner, as if it wanted to devour Xiaobai alive, gradually disappeared.
Xiao Bai touched her face, feeling a little lost.
"Are you Lu Lin?" Bismarck asked after a long silence. "The Admiral's sister?"
“I am…” Xiaobai replied.
“Stand up,” Bismarck said, his tone as cold as if he were saying “crush them.”
Little White quickly stood up from the ground, clasped his hands tightly, and stood in front of Bismarck.
Bismarck looked at Little White, slowly reached out her hand, and gently touched Little White's cheek.
Cool.
“You don’t look like your brother at all.”
"..." Xiaobai remained silent, unsure of what to say.
“And he’s short, much shorter than Tirpitz,” Bismarck said, placing her hand on Little White’s head. “How tall is he?”
1.6 meters tall.
“Your brother is 1.8 meters tall,” Bismarck said.
"..." Xiaobai covered her face.
"Your brother always calls you Xiaobai, why? Isn't your name Lu Lin?" Bismarck asked.
“I was always sick when I was little. My brother said that if I had a humble name, my life would be stronger.”
"A humble name?"
"It's the name given to the cat or dog."
"Is 'Xiaobai' the cat's name?"
"dog's."
"What a pity," Bismarck said. "I like cats."
"Do you like comics?" Bismarck asked again.
"……kindness."
“Tirpitz would probably like you a lot,” Bismarck said, straightening White’s collar. “She’s my sister, and I’m Bismarck. We’re both your brother’s wives.”
"Huh?" Xiaobai was stunned.
It seems like I wasn't rejected?
"What's wrong?" Bismarck asked. "Is it strange to marry a ship girl?"
"No, no." Xiaobai lowered his head and stammered for a long time, "Bismarck... Sister-in-law, hello sister-in-law."
Bismarck paused as she helped Xiaobai straighten his clothes.
“Very good.” Bismarck looked at Little White, a hint of a smile appearing in his eyes. “Just call me by my real name.”
"Oh……"
"Try calling it."
"Bismarck".
"louder."
"Bismarck!"
“Here.” Bismarck looked at Little White quietly with her red eyes, and soon, two streams of tears slowly flowed from her eyes.
She gently took Little White into her arms.
"Admiral, welcome back."
His strong voice held a faint hint of sadness.
Chapter 4: My Domineering Sister-in-Law is the Best
After giving himself a gentle hug, Bismarck led Little White into the naval base.
Inside the naval base, the white floor tiles were swept very carefully, as if the sea breeze had come to life and swept away all the dust.
“That’s the office building up ahead. The first room on the top floor is the Admiral’s office.” Bismarck pointed to the square red building in the distance. “If you’re new here, just go there. Someone is waiting for you there.”
Xiaobai immediately thought of the ship girl who had drawn the curtains earlier.
With her eyesight, she could only vaguely make out a head of dazzling blonde hair.
"Bismarck... Mai." The thought made Xiaobai a little flustered, and she called out somewhat awkwardly.
“Here.” Bismarck stopped and turned to look at Little White.
"Who's in the Admiral's office?" Xiao Bai asked.
If she's some kind of ferocious ship girl, her future might be the same as the admirals who came to this naval base before.
Not every ship girl is as easy to get along with as Bismarck. That's what Xiaobai thought to herself.
“…” Bismarck glanced subconsciously at the window of the admiral’s office.
Behind the colorless glass were tightly closed green curtains.
A hint of tenderness flashed in Bismarck's red eyes.
“The admiral’s office is naturally occupied by the secretary ship, the admiral’s,” Bismarck said, turning around. “It’s Lexington.”
"Oh, I see..." Xiaobai felt somewhat relieved after hearing this.
If it's Lexington, then there shouldn't be any problem.
The Lexington-class aircraft carrier serves as the naval base's bridge to the outside world. Most of the information in her briefcase was provided by her, and it was Lexington who approved Xiaobai's appointment as admiral.
Lexington was the older brother's first capital ship, a ship girl he summoned from the ruins during his admiral's graduation ceremony. She was also the ship girl who spent the most time with him, his wedding ship, and his secretary ship.
It's vaguely implied that Lexington's status was similar to that of a principal wife.
“She’s very easy to get along with.” Bismarck seemed to sense Lexington’s unease and explained, “Lexington is a very gentle person.”
Bismarck didn't seem to be the type to care about others often, so his tone was a little stiff.
"Okay." Xiaobai felt a little relieved.
“I live over there with Tirpitz,” Bismarck said, pointing to the white dormitory building next to the office building.
