Chapter 48 Divine Soldiers Descend from the Sky
Chapter 48 Divine Soldiers Descend from the Sky
Mans glanced at his watch; there was one minute left, one minute before Su An arrived.
He had to lead his crew to hold on for this minute.
"One minute! This is our shared minute! I'll finish him off!" Professor Mance roared! "First Officer! Give me the gun!"
The first mate tossed the key behind him, and Selma opened the weapons cabinet hidden in the bulkhead, where an L115A3 sniper rifle stood upright in the center.
This British-made long-range sniper rifle is considered the emperor of sniper rifles, but the executive department was still not satisfied with its performance and optimized the ammunition. Mans loaded bullets, each with a cold blue glow and ancient patterns engraved on its tip, into the magazine. The primer of each bullet was painted red, a mark of high-risk weaponry.
"I really like those lunatics in the Executive Department who work on weapons optimization!" Mans slammed the magazine into his gun and slipped out of the cabin.
He aimed at the half-dead dragon's body in the distance, pulled the trigger, and a straight, cold blue beam shot into the water. It was the result of the fluorescent material on the tracer bullet heating up due to friction in the air. The gunshot was like thunder, and the enormous recoil could have knocked a strong man over. The advance of the waterline was suddenly blocked, and whirlpools formed on the surface.
Without hesitation, Mans fired in quick succession, ten large-caliber bullets plunging into the water. The cold blue light streaked from one shot to the next, the lingering shadows in the darkness creating a breathtakingly beautiful sight. Watching it weave through his infrared binoculars, seemingly trying to evade the bullets, Mans couldn't help but take off his cigar and laugh loudly.
"Selma, bullets!" he shouted.
He wasn't going to stop, and kept pulling the trigger.
There's a well-known truth in the Kassel Executive Department: those who can't finish off their opponents will only die.
He wanted to baptize that damned Samson with bullets, to show him the consequences of daring to attack his most beloved student.
As Selma rushed out of the cabin with her newly loaded magazine, she saw the waterway rescue agency's helicopter circling overhead. They had obviously noticed that Moniach, who was moving at full speed, was struggling with something, so they shone their searchlights on the vortex created by the thing's swirling movement.
Suddenly, a large number of bubbles surged up from the center of the whirlpool, and an incredible, huge black shadow suddenly appeared from there. For a moment, Selma wondered whether what she was seeing was real or an illusion. The black shadow broke through the water with unparalleled power and rose straight into the sky—a bolt of lightning tore through the sky, and the black shadow twisted and turned like a raging dragon in the lightning.
Selma's legs gave way, and she collapsed onto the deck. She knew from countless theoretical and practical lessons that this race existed in this world, but she had never witnessed such a colossal dragon in person. It was a miracle, a dragon breaking through the water and ascending to the heavens; all this storming was to welcome this magnificent moment…
However, this magnificent moment was slightly flawed; a small hole was torn in space in front of the giant dragon's head.
Mans looked down at the countdown timer and chuckled, "Perfect timing."
"Don't worry anymore. If you're wondering why, it's because I'm here."
From within the hollow of the fragment, a fist of moderate size emerged.
His fists were clearly knuckled, and veins snaked along his wrists. Below his wrists were the dark green sleeves of the Kassel College uniform.
Go eat shit.
Pong!
The fist struck the dragon's head solidly, and red, white, and yellow things exploded in the air like spilled sauce jars.
A handsome young man leaped out of the hole. Samson tried to escape, but in mid-air, he reached out and pulled back the half-dead dragon's body, pressing its spine against his knees, and then pressed down hard with both hands.
With a snap, the dragon's spine broke.
There wasn't even a wail; the dragon fell completely silent.
Su An threw it into the sea and yelled at Mans, "Finish it off! Finish it off!"
Mans reached out and grabbed the magazine from Selma's hand, loaded it into the gun, and then fired the dragon corpse.
Without the dragon scales obstructing the way, the bullet successfully penetrated the dragon corpse's wound. The mercury in the bullet reacted with the dragon blood, producing a piercing hissing sound. The dragon corpse convulsed for a moment and then remained motionless.
"Did we win?"
Mans instinctively wanted to ask Su An something, but Su An's guard remained.
He said, "Be careful!"
A much larger creature leaped out of the water, bigger than the two dragons in front of it.
It leaped out of the water quickly, rose in front of the helicopter, and with a flick of its long tail, caught the landing gear of the heavy helicopter.
It wasn't exactly small, but compared to a heavy helicopter like the "Super Stallion" capable of carrying fifteen tons of cargo, it wasn't that big. Mans' bullets struck its body, sparking a few flashes.
Using the landing gear for leverage, the thing leaped up again, and another bolt of lightning streaked across the sky. In the flash, its long, dragon-like body stretched out, paused slightly, then twisted like a whip, lashing fiercely at the helicopter's rotor. Steel fragments scattered everywhere, the helicopter lost its balance, spiraling towards the water. Several dark figures opened the hatch and jumped into the water. The helicopter collided violently with the water, sending sprays nearly 50 meters high. A dozen seconds later, flames shot into the night sky; the helicopter had exploded underwater.
"It...it took down a heavy helicopter? How could it leap 20 meters out of the water?" Selma shook her head. "My God!"
"Yeah, it doesn't seem to be very smart. It thinks the people in the helicopter are attacking it," Mance said in a low voice. "But at this rate, we'll probably be its next meal."
"No," Suan said, "It's swearing its power against me, but it won't even look me in the eye. It witnessed the deaths of two of its kind from Bronze City at my hands, and it's terrified."
Sure enough, when Su An stared at the dragon shadow, the dragon shadow subconsciously shuddered.
Mans had never heard of such a situation before. Dragons were always majestic and domineering, so powerful and awe-inspiring that they would tremble at the sight of humans.
Sure enough, the dragon noticed Su An's gaze and immediately shrank back into the water, not daring to make a single bubble.
The Moniach was still traveling at high speed, but the shadow in the distance was still following closely.
"What gives it a reason to oppose me?"
"It must be that jar; it has to take back that yellow jar," Mans stared blankly at the jar that Aki had risked her life to retrieve.
Before Mans could finish speaking, the terrifying waterline rose from the bottom of the water again, chasing after the Moniach.
"It's coming!" Selma screamed, staring at the distant water.
"What it truly cares about is that bronze pot, and it's even willing to become my enemy for it," Su An grinned. "Interesting."
