Chapter 15 Industrial Component Loading
Chapter 15 Industrial Component Loading
Diting jumped off the cargo box, lowered the tires, and silently darted away.
Tengu stepped over the pile of carbon fiber cloth on the ground and slowly walked down the ramp at the rear of the cargo box. He then raised the machine gun on his back and went into alert mode.
Watching the two tactical dogs get to work, Ouyang Nian put on his multi-functional goggles and pressed the power button.
Lorraine started the component installation program via the data board before activating the multi-function eyepiece.
As the order was given, the gunboats on the river started their engines and slowly approached the dock.
Seeing the fully automated installation process that required no manual intervention, Lorraine felt reassured and put on the multi-functional goggles to check its capabilities.
What comes into view is the image transmitted back by a tactical dog using a white light observation device, which occupies half of the eyepiece.
Lorraine was just about to suggest changing the observation equipment when the entire view suddenly switched to a red and blue thermal imaging perspective.
"But this is obstructing the view too much." Before he could finish speaking, the entire screen shrunk to the upper left corner of the eyepiece, and at the same time, lines of text popped up on the right side of the eyepiece.
"Commander, the eyepiece has a certain brainwave recognition capability, allowing you to adjust the image at any time. To ensure the accuracy of action commands, please issue commands via voice or text."
When covert operations are required, commands can be issued using a throat-vibration microphone. If a command is unclear, text will be displayed through the eyepiece to allow you to confirm the command.
At this moment, the Tengu, who was on guard nearby, came over, opened the storage box on the right rear side, and revealed a throat-vibration microphone that could be directly connected to the eyepiece.
"At the same time, you can switch between my perspective and Tengu's perspective at any time using commands."
Looking at the two tactical dogs with such complete functions, Lorraine exclaimed that he had struck gold. After confirming that the gunboat's stern was docked, he extended the robotic arm to open the cargo box and began the component installation work. Only then did Lorraine prepare to continue studying the tactical dog's instruction manual.
Just then, a startled exclamation rang in my ears: "You still have this hidden on your ship? With this thing, why did you even bother with an engineer like me? I reasonably suspect you're after my beauty."
Lorraine froze for a moment before realizing that something was amiss. She said irritably, "I admit you are dashing and your beauty is unmatched."
However, this robotic arm is the first time I've seen one like this. The water purification components I received before were already installed; the only difference was that there was an extra screen in the driver's cab displaying the water tank capacity and purification speed.
Lorraine paused for a moment, looked at the gunboat undergoing self-modification, and fell into deep thought.
Ouyang Nian nudged Lorraine and asked, "Does your gunboat have any other functions?"
Lorraine invoked the ship's AI, asking, "Show all unlocked and locked functions."
Subsequently, a series of unlocked functions such as "Industrial Blueprint System", "Component Installation and Modification System", and "Ship Repair and Modification System" popped up on the data panel.
Then, three unlocked functions popped up: "Main Gun Automatic Loading System," "Radar System," and "Communication System."
Looking at the limited functions in front of him, Lorraine felt that the shipboard intelligent display was not complete.
But no matter what he did, almost no additional information was displayed, only a prompt popped up: "Communication and radar systems will be unlocked when the ship is upgraded to level one."
Ouyang Nian chuckled to himself. Seeing this, Lorraine shoved the data tablet into Ouyang Nian's hands, saying, "As long as you don't interrupt the installation process, look for it however you like. Finding it is a real achievement."
Then, Lorraine lowered his head and continued studying the tactical dog user manual on the tablet:
The tactical dogs' energy systems all use high-energy solid-state batteries.
The battlefield support battery capacity is sufficient to support it for 12 hours of long-distance raids under full load conditions, or 8 hours of full-power operation of the entire system for communication relay, fire strike, and observation.
其武器系统弹药储备为:头部50发9毫米弹药,背部200发7.62毫米弹药及4发40毫米榴弹。
The reconnaissance battery capacity is sufficient for the observation system to operate at full power for 8 hours, or to operate in low-power passive mode for 40 hours.
The reconnaissance head-mounted ammunition reserve is 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Note: To improve the efficiency of data collection, both prototypes are equipped with artificial intelligence.
After confirming the endurance and armament of "Di Ting" and "Tian Gou," Lorraine, while looking at the robotic arm hoisting and machining center, asked the two tactical dogs a question:
"Listen, besides conventional optical observation equipment, do you have any other reconnaissance methods?"
"We have radar interfaces pre-installed by the designers, but there is no suitable model for the miniaturized radar we need. We need to design and manufacture it separately, so we do not have radar detection capabilities at the moment."
"Because our functions are different, the types and numbers of radars we can carry are also different," Di Ting replied.
"How do you accurately strike enemy units without fire control radar?" Lorraine asked curiously.
"Leave this to me." A line of blue text popped up—this was the Tengu's subtitle.
"Aiming is usually done using a camera fixed to the firearm, while indirect fire weapons such as grenade launchers require laser rangefinding before firing."
"Multiple humanoid heat sources detected moving, expected to reach my location in 5 minutes and make contact with the commander in 25 minutes."
Seeing the comments that Di Ting suddenly interrupted, Luo Lin turned to look at Ouyang Nian.
"I saw it, I'm looking at it," Ouyang Nian replied while operating the data panel.
"There are still 10 minutes left, but it's uncertain how long the material transfer will take."
[A small amount of supplies has been detected; the transfer is expected to take 5 minutes.]
"It will take another 15 minutes," Ouyang Nian reported the data on the tablet.
Lorraine relaxed, looked at the enormous tengu beside him, and thought of a question: "How do you get on and off the ship with your weight?"
Tengu reported the following data: "Under the current load, I can jump 10 meters by briefly increasing the motor's output power. After installing a jet propulsion system, I can jump 20 meters."
Lorraine looked at the river channel, which was sixty or seventy meters wide. With such powerful combat capabilities, and with the Blood Moon approaching, it was undoubtedly worthwhile to consume more fuel each time they went out to explore in order to ensure their own safety.
Lorraine focused his attention on the listening view displayed on the eyepiece, watching the horde of corpses steadily approaching the shore.
As he looked around, Lorraine realized something was wrong. Compared to the population of the industrial zone, the number of zombies here seemed too small, and no mutated zombies were found.
"Ouyang Nian, I have bad news. There might be a zombie king in this area, and the number of mutated zombies is likely no less than the number we encountered in the factory."
"It's alright. Once the industrial components are installed, I can fix your 30mm gun in less than half a day. Besides, there are some materials on board that can be used to make some solid 30mm projectiles."
