Chapter 1463 - 58: People of the Gate (2)

And when the two Demon Gods realize that no matter how much they heed Helair’s words, they cannot regain their freedom, they will automatically dissociate from Fisher’s "enemy identity." They have been hiding within the human army, skirmishing with a Fourteenth Rank Dragon-man Species for four and a half years, all for freedom. Once freedom becomes an unattainable goal, they will instead obstruct Helair’s plans.Even for Helair, dealing with two Eighteenth Rank Demon Gods would be quite troublesome. More importantly, she has concealed the two Demon Gods within the Nali army for such a long time, once exposed, all previous efforts would be in vain.

Of course, Helair could easily find a reason to remind them to beware of the Demon Dynasty, but doing so would turn Fisher’s intention in heading to the Dynasty into a catalyst, and sooner or later, they would discover the trick Helair was playing, and the target would shift from Rafael to Fisher himself.

Fisher would rather face the risk of dealing with two Demons himself, even if it meant dying in the Demon Dynasty, than to let the two Demons be used by Helair to destroy the Dragon Court and kill Rafael.

Helair had said that she would not personally take action against Rafael, though it was unclear whether it was due to apprehensions about the Doomsday Prophecy or because of Fisher. Nonetheless, Fisher could only assume that she would keep this promise for now.

At present, both Helair and Fisher need time. Helair needs to maintain the loyalty of the two Demon Gods until the timing of the Doomsday Prophecy arrives to kill Rafael, while Fisher needs time to find the base and reseal the two Demon Gods back into the Dynasty.

Therefore, Helair would likely not directly inform the two Demon Gods of the truth, but she also wouldn’t stand idly by as Fisher entered the Dynasty to seize the base.

From here on, Fisher could only take one step at a time and see what moves this devious Angel would make.

...

...

Crossing the Southern Branch Mountain Range, at the northern end of the Southern Branch Mountain Range, following a clear river running through the forest upwards, with more and more bird corpses along the ground, the surrounding environment grew increasingly primitive and remote. It was unknown for how long, in the vast stretches of time, this place had gone without being visited by other intelligent creatures.

"... Have you arrived?"

Not far ahead, Fisher spotted the Death Lord Holan, stooped over and shrouded in wisps of smoke, atop a tree severed at the waist. Hearing the commotion behind him, he twisted his head with a "click," and, like a zombie, glanced at the two who had arrived, greeting them along the way.

Of course, he didn’t seem to expect Moli to come either, or the little corpses of birds didn’t fully or clearly communicate information. However, he didn’t mind too much, merely turning his head to look forward and saying to Fisher,

"Think of a plan, Fisher. I’ve been researching here all morning and still don’t know how to go down... Or rather, is this not the Competitive Gate at all? Did I remember or search the wrong location?"

Surrounding the Death Lord, stacked densely, were various bird corpses. The corpses extended all the way forward towards a cave at the base of the mountain enveloped in greenery.

The cave was vast and deep, incredibly dark, and even looking inside from the outside at the peak of midday sunlight, it was impossible to discern the specific outline. One could only barely make out that the cave had a certain slope, steeply descending underground.

Moli didn’t like the aura of this peculiar human in front of her, and couldn’t quite articulate why... If forced to explain, it was more about the feeling of destruction that defies life emanating from him that Moli disliked.

Thus, she did not engage in any exchange with him, merely greeted him and stood on the side away from him with Fisher.

Fisher raised his eyes to scan the cave hidden amidst the mountains and quickly noticed many inscriptions beside the cave that had been weathered and eroded, making them difficult to make out. But relying on memory, Fisher nodded affirmatively and said,

"This is indeed the entrance to the Dynasty, should be the Competitive Gate. These seals beside the cave I have seen on another Demon Portal in Nali, where there were as many as seventy-two, and here only part of it, likely bearing the seal of the Demon God residing behind this gate."

"... This morning, I tried to send my Undead Creations into the cave to investigate the situation, but every time, they soon went out of control and disappeared entirely. Moreover, things that emit light quickly lose effectiveness inside, such as lamps, torches, and magic. So up to now, I don’t know the cave’s structure, but this cave always gives me a very dangerous feeling. Are you sure you want to enter from here?"

Fisher pondered for a moment, then turned back to look at the Death Lord and said,

"We are on a tight schedule. Let’s depart; I’ll go first, Moli in the middle, and you bring up the rear."

The Death Lord shrugged in agreement, after all, he wouldn’t die, just feared not finding the correct entrance,

"I’ll go first, then. In case anything happens, I can alert you two in advance. You at the back can look out for us both, given your strength, it’s more reliable this way."

Fisher looked back at Moli, and seeing her nod in agreement, he and the Death Lord first stepped towards the cave entrance. The Death Lord beckoned with his hand, and the bird corpses that had fallen to the ground behind them struggled to get up with "caws" and began flying over.
