Chapter 4 First-Class Wizard Apprentice, Introduction to Wizardry
Chapter 4 First-Class Wizard Apprentice, Introduction to Wizardry
Inside the library, Luo Ang's eyes suddenly snapped open.
After the two seeds fell, he clearly perceived the difference in the world.
He raised his hand, and the seed in his mind that symbolized his physical body trembled slightly. The flesh on his hand, charred like charcoal by the electric light, fell away, revealing the smooth skin beneath.
The injury he predicted would take some time to heal has now been fully recovered.
The only cost is that the seed, which symbolizes the physical body, becomes somewhat shriveled and no longer as plump as before—it can regain its plumpness simply by replenishing it with enough food and nutrients.
"Is this what a wizard is?" Loen was filled with shock as he sensed the change.
Putting everything else aside, the changes corresponding to this physical seed are beyond the imagination of ordinary people.
"Doesn't this mean that unless a fatal wound is inflicted in an instant, ordinary injuries are practically meaningless in the eyes of a wizard?"
In that instant, Luo Ang remembered the old man who had died at his hands.
A feeling of immense relief welled up in my heart.
Ok!
The method he used to kill that old man was magic, not a dagger.
Otherwise... Luo Ang couldn't even imagine what it would be like if he planned to use a dagger to find an opportunity to assassinate that old man, and after finally finding the opportunity and delivering that fatal blow, the old man just watched him without caring at all.
That's utterly despairing!
Only one wizard can stand before another.
The opening sentence of the Spiral Tree of Life Meditation appeared in Loon's mind in an incredibly vivid way.
This is not some self-aggrandizing rhetoric like the nobles' self-proclaimed claim that "only nobles can face other nobles," but a direct description of reality!
"Fortunately, I'm a wizard now too."
"Although I'm only a first-class apprentice." Luo Ang raised his hand and touched his chest.
In his mind, the seed of his soul leaped, and his spiritual power spread out rapidly like a wisp of silk, reaching the magical artifact that locked his heart together with Luo Ang's fingers.
In an instant, the roots that had been binding Luo Ang's heart on the sorcerer's artifact were immediately pulled away from Luo Ang's heart at Luo Ang's command, and then contracted.
A moment later, the magical artifact transformed into the shape of a syringe and fell into Luo Ang's hands.
After carefully storing the artifact, Loon continued his exploration.
On the bookshelf in front, each shelf held a separate scroll, making a total of seven.
The scrolls were filled with mysterious power. Just looking at them made Luo Ang's eyes sting and his mind tense, as if his soul was giving him a warning. Clearly, these seven scrolls were the spell scrolls that the old man had collected.
Loon was unaware of the spells within these scrolls, nor did he understand the mechanism by which the scrolls were triggered. Therefore, he simply bypassed the bookshelf containing the scrolls and continued forward.
Next to this bookshelf is the old man's desk.
To Luo Ang's surprise, the old man not only conducted experiments and wrote experimental records, but also had the habit of keeping a diary!
The diary entries are incredibly detailed.
Luo Ang sat down at the old man's desk and opened the old man's diary.
For Loon, this diary was his only way to understand the wizarding world at the moment, so he read it extremely carefully.
It took Luo Ang three whole days to finish reading the contents of the diary.
The diary wasn't written in every day—but the old man's life still slowly unfolded before Loen.
In the diary, the old man initially studied at a wizarding academy.
But after only a year of study, the old man was deemed to have no talent, expelled from the wizarding academy, and became a wild wizard.
After that came the experiences gained from traveling to various places and the scheming and intrigue with others.
He recorded all the losses he suffered in his diary.
Finally, he came to the Beacon of Prosperity and, taking a different approach, started a business selling wizard apprenticeships.
He teaches his apprentices the art of wizarding meditation here—and then kills them after they have mastered the basics.
The blood vessels in the apprentices' bodies were extracted and used as experimental material.
Traces of the introductory meditation techniques remain in their skulls—the traces left by different schools of meditation are different, and there are disputes between schools.
Thus, these heads could be seen as proof that one school of thought had killed a rising force of a rival school, and were of considerable value to many.
The latter half of the diary was no different from the old man's business ledger.
Through this diary, Loen also confirmed the old man's wizarding level.
Just an ordinary, first-class wizard apprentice!
Just like myself now, there's not much difference.
First-class wizard apprentice.
A level that left Loon somewhat speechless, both amused and exasperated.
He endured hardship for three years, just to deal with a first-class wizard apprentice... Who would believe that if this were told?
But what about the wizard's talent?
Loen didn't have a very clear concept of this factor.
After all, the apprentices in this Tower of Prosperity can graduate in as little as a month or so, or at most a year.
So far, Loen has not seen any apprentices who are "unable to graduate" in this Tower of Prosperity.
Therefore, in Loen's understanding, there is no insurmountable threshold for becoming a wizard from an ordinary person.
But now it seems there are other explanations hidden behind this.
Unfortunately, the old man seemed to deeply resent his experience of being deemed to have no talent, and never mentioned the specifics in his diary, nor did he clarify how a wizard's talent should be assessed.
"I don't know if I'm considered talented or not." After closing the diary, Luo Ang couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.
In his view, although the old man was only a first-class wizard apprentice, his cunning and skill were exceptional.
Such people are judged to have no talent and are expelled from the academy. So what is the source of the wizard's talent?
Surely this can't be a million times more important than a person's character, temperament, wisdom, methods, and so on.
With a heavy heart, Luo Ang continued his search.
Soon, he found another book in the old man's desk drawer.
Introduction to Wizardry
Upon seeing the book, Luo Ang's eyes immediately lit up.
Just by looking at the title, you can tell that this book is exactly what Loen wanted: an introductory text for the path of a wizard.
The book's cover bears the words "Introduction to Wizardry".
Below the four characters is the source of the classic text.
The High Council Compilation - Thirteenth Edition.
No one may delete or modify the content contained herein.
Looking at the four words "must not be deleted or altered," Luo Ang seemed to smell a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
The Supreme Council.
After carefully memorizing the name, Luo Ang slowly opened the book.
