Chapter 20 Fame
Chapter 20 Fame
The Royal Hotel is always a place of extravagant revelry, with thick walls concealing everything from the outside world.
Vijay had just reached the door when he saw Bim standing there, rubbing his hands together, looking extremely anxious.
Bim spotted Vijay from afar and jogged over to him, almost immediately prostrating himself in reverence, "Shiva, thank goodness, Master, you've finally returned!"
"Don't rush," Vijay said, looking at the old servant's flushed, slightly agitated face. He accepted the old servant's deep bow, allowing him to gently lift the soles of his feet and place them on his forehead. "Get up and speak!"
"Is there a problem with the procurement of goods?" That was the only thing Vijay could think of.
"No, my master!" Bim was still excited, shaking his head as if singing: "I have found several famous merchants in Harappa City. They are all the owners of the goods that my old master purchased back then."
"By Brahma above, they still remember the Mittal family!"
What's so strange about that? Vijay was a little confused. Having experienced his last peak, he naturally knew that the Mittal family had always been very famous among the upper class of Harappa City.
After all, in the past century, among the countless merchants who ventured to the East from Harappa, only the Mittal family's caravans had successfully returned.
This alone makes it all the more important than anything else.
For example, if he went to buy the Ten Offerings today, and he announced the Mittal family's name as soon as he entered, the effect would probably not be much less than that of the bag of gold coins.
Vijay didn't interrupt, continuing to listen as he walked towards the Royal Hotel.
"They were all utterly shocked to hear that, with the support of the noble Kshatriya Liroshman, you, our esteemed master, are preparing to reopen the trade routes!"
"Not only did they offer their best goods at the lowest prices, giving us the biggest discounts, but some families didn't even need us to pay for their goods... They were willing to offer their best products or directly sponsor the caravan!"
"All you need to do, Master, is nod, and they'll deliver chests of gold coins to us!"
"I just want to exchange my spot for a caravan membership!"
As expected.
Vijay believed that his grandfather must have faced similar enthusiasm many times back then.
Wealthy and powerful merchants are not stingy fools; after all, money has a price, but a trade route that can bring in a continuous stream of treasures is priceless.
"Bim," Vijay stopped at the stairs, past the central fountain and surrounded by respectfully bowing servants. "Tomorrow morning, go to that 'Ten Offerings' house, retrieve my offerings, and then return to the village."
Vijay's sudden decision was like a bucket of cold water poured over Bim's head, freezing his smile on his face.
Somewhat puzzled, but Bim never questioned his master's decisions and was about to nod in agreement.
"Excuse me," a soft, feminine voice suddenly came from the stairs, rudely interrupting Vijay's conversation with his close servant.
Ordinary people wouldn't be so reckless. Vijay frowned and turned his head to see who dared to humiliate him like this.
At the corner of the stairs, a snake's head flicked its tongue, staring at her with cold, large eyes. A soft female voice slowly emanated from this beastly face: "You just seemed to have said, 'Go to the East?'"
Vijay took a few steps up to the platform, but still had to look up at the two-headed alien.
That guy is really tall!
They brushed past each other in the morning, and Vijay didn't notice this. Based on his own height of 1.8 meters, the alien in front of him was at least 2 meters tall.
Upon closer inspection, this alien race did not exhibit any obvious sexual characteristics. Its skin, which resembled both scales and leather, was a translucent glassy blue, and upon closer inspection, one could almost see iridescent light shimmering within it.
"Spying, rudeness," Vijay said slowly, tilting his head back and squinting his eyes, his voice low. "These are all violations of the teachings!"
Vijay sensed no threat from the alien race, and he also knew that another purpose of the Royal Inn was to provide a place for visiting apostles to rest and socialize.
Being able to stay here at least proves that this is an envoy from another race who came with official certification.
"I apologize!" the serpentine beast swayed gently. "I'm not very familiar with your customs yet. Please forgive me if I've offended you!"
"Stop talking nonsense!" Raising his left hand to shove aside the snake's grasp, another gentle-looking face spoke, but his voice was a rough, hoarse baritone, staring at Vijay with absolute certainty: "You are the last heir of the Mittal family!"
Upon hearing this, Vijay froze on the spot.
How did the Mittal family become so famous? How could they even recognize these alien races I've never seen before?
Without Vijay's need to admit it, the snake's head slowly stretched out, its tongue almost touching Vijay's body. It closed its eyes as if sniffing, "So that's why Lingqi brought us to Harappa City."
"Who are you?" Vijay was completely bewildered. Where did this force come from? Are they friend or foe?
"In your language, I am Miru, the messenger of the Duaga tribe. I have come from the far south to pay homage to your leader with a spiritual revelation." The man who called himself Miru answered Vijay's question, while stepping aside to let Vijay pass and walking down the stairs.
"What are you going to do?" Vijay instinctively gripped the railing and asked urgently.
Vijay received no answer; the alien seemed to move slowly but actually swiftly out of his sight.
"Bim, have you ever seen these alien races?"
"Master, this old servant has never seen him before!" Bim shook his head, then muttered to himself, "He does look a lot like some of the lowly people in the village..."
Upon hearing this, Vijay thought of those unnoticed people in the village who seemed to have features similar to snake heads!
"The Mittal family is going to be famous again!" Bim laughed again, his thoughts were not that complicated.
Just how much has Mittal Vijay forgotten? Or does he simply not know anything at all?
Li Weijie was somewhat annoyed by their lack of ambition. Although he had a premonition that these inexplicable alien races would definitely cause some setbacks to his upcoming plans, these were not the key issues at the moment.
Vijay could only suppress his worries and return to his room.
Vijaya began by purifying himself, burning incense and bathing, and silently reciting scriptures, in accordance with the audience procedures prescribed in the Manusmriti.
Although he considered all of this to be mere formality, Vijay couldn't guarantee that the Brahmins had no way of verifying whether they had dutifully completed these superficial tasks...
Not wanting to give others cause for gossip in such a place, Vijay obediently followed the rules.
He burned incense and prayed until dawn.
